$18 Mln Fees! Will Taylor's Tour Boost Singapore Tourism?

This Saturday, Taylor Swift's Eras tour will kick off in Singapore. The Thai Prime Minister stated that Singapore has provided sponsorship of up to $3 mln for Taylor's concert. Taylor will perform six concerts in Singapore, which means the sponsorship could amount to as much as $18 mln. ------------------------------ Do you agree with the government's high sponsorship? Will Taylor's performances boost Singapore's tourism income? Would you attend Taylor's concert?

Well, fans are already jetting in, booking hotels, hitting up local spots, and that's a sweet deal for local businesses. The $18 million figure could totally be seen as an investment in that tourism buzz. If the government is shelling out so much for the concert, they're clearly betting on her star power to pull in some major tourist dollars. I think it’s definitely working since her tickets are in high demand right now and everyone is waiting to snag a ticket. Definitely going for her concert if I’m being given free tickets though. Her concert looks epic and it would be a good opportunity to find out whether the cash laid out by the government is really worth it. 😎 πŸ’°

Totally worth it, it is once in a lifetime opportunity and Singapore govt is astute investor. They grabbed throw opportunity with both hands. I witnessed Tay Tay mania first hand in Melbourne and this is what may of Melbourne has the say about the economic impact of the show. grapes are sour for Thai PM.

Yesterday I went for the Swifties event organised by Jewel. I not a fan of hers but just accompanying my friend there.  I was impressed by how the fans dressed up for the event. Even little girls, maybe age of 5-7 y o, came dressed up like Taylor Swift - in their boots. They even remember every moves of her songs[Salute]  πŸ«‘. Not 1 song but all the songs done by the band.  I really enjoyed the 2hours event even though they didn't manage to get Taylor Swift to grace the event. Jewel's intention was to get Taylor Swift to see the new forest. #SeeTheNewForest. As her last visit was in 2013. Hope I didn't get the date wrong. Anyway, band 53A did a very good job in singing Taylor's song. Even I, a non Swiftie, can feel the love in the air[Love] [Heart]   B

Look Beyond Fees For Taylor's Tour! Hospitality and Retail Benefit

WIth the Taylor’s tour happening in Singapore, there are a good number of tourists coming from our South-east Asian neighbours. These group of tourists are people with certain level of purchasing power, so we could expect that they might not be just here for the music concert, they could be doing some retail therapy. As investors, I would be more interested to look into the Singapore hospitality and retail sector stocks, as they should be poised to gain from this tour. $Genting Sing(G13.SI)$ With Genting having plans to improve their attractions, there might be chances that tourists here for the tour would be visiting some of the attractions and also the hotels, as they are conveniently located as well. Genting Singapore has announced remarkable

Yes, it will definitely boost Singapore economy in the area of hospitality, transport, retail and food and beverages. With most country starting to open up fully this year after 4 years of Covid-19 restriction, Swift concerts is likely to have a knock on effect on Singapore tourist numbers for the rest of 2024. As security is upmost important for mega superstar like Swift, more part time security vacancy will be made available during her 6 concerts here in Singapore and these jobs will be able to boost the income of those who takes up these security jobs.  Wish her success for the upcoming concerts, it will be a Win-Win for Taylor Swift and the Singapore economy.

Just like F1, it will create a goodwill effect for the country in the long run as a Nation of Entertainment. It might encourage more Legendary Star to this Nation for performance given the support from the authority and thus bring in their Fans worldwide as well. Travel, Hospitality industry and Tax Authority will benefit from the Revenue Sales of the tickets and other channels of income generated thru this events, either by the performance group or Fans group.

I agree with the governments sponsorship fee Taylor Swift's tour could potentially boost tourism income in Singapore, as her concerts tend to attract large crowds of fans from various countries. These fans may travel to Singapore specifically to attend her concerts, contributing to the local economy through spending on accommodations, dining, transportation, and other activities. Additionally, high-profile events like Swift's tour can generate publicity and media coverage for Singapore, further promoting the country as a tourist destination. I would not personally attend a concert.

If each of the 300,000 ticket holding spend $1k in SGP, it generates $300 million sales for retail, hotels, F&B, etc. It is definitely a good deal for Singapore.
