The iPhone is arguably one of the most significant consumer products in the world (as measured by dollars spent). Notable products like the iPod, the iMac, and more preceded the legendary smartphone. Since the iPhone, Apple&#39;s produced sought-after devices like the iPad, Apple Watch, Airpods, and more. Most importantly, millions of people pay premium prices for each of the aforementioned, leaving excellent profit margins for Apple and its shareholders.</p><p>Between 2013 and 2022, Apple&#39;s annual sales soared from $171 billion to $394 billion. Considering the diverse and large markets in which Apple sells products, it is not likely to hit the ceiling on sales anytime soon despite its already massive scale. The pricing power that Apple earned over decades of improving the customer experience allowed it to average an operating profit margin of 28.3% in that time.</p><p>Admittedly, these are all backward-looking figures, but Apple&#39;s highly connected ecosystem makes it less likely for customers to switch to a competitor&#39;s product. In other words, many of yesterday&#39;s customers will likely stick with Apple longer-term.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4840b837074a86f7ea8f6ae8b5f1350a\" tg-width=\"720\" tg-height=\"387\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>AAPL data by YCharts</span></p><p>The bear market in 2022 brought Apple&#39;s stock down meaningfully. Today&#39;s investors can buy Apple stock at a price-to-earnings and price-to-free cash flow of 21.7 and 19.4, respectively. This is a relatively fair price to pay for an excellent business. Investors will do well in building wealth if they can buy great companies at reasonable prices.</p><h2>What have you done for me lately?</h2><p><b>Jeremy Bowman (Bear case):</b> It&#39;s hard to question Apple&#39;s bona fides, as the company is one of the biggest in the world, and generates huge margins. But stocks are generally valued based on future cash flows, and Apple&#39;s may not be as strong as the market seems to think.</p><p>In Apple&#39;s most recent quarter, revenue was up 8%, and earnings per share grew just 4%. According to Wall Street, this is not the growth stock that some might like to think it is. Apple didn&#39;t give specific guidance in its most recent earnings report, but the company said it expected revenue to slow sequentially in the current quarter due to the macroeconomic environment, a 10-percentage-point headwind from currency exchange, and difficult comparisons in the Mac segment.</p><p>Wall Street, meanwhile, expects revenue growth of just 2.7% in the current fiscal year, and even slower growth in earnings per share. In fiscal 2024, it only expects top and bottom line growth to improve slightly.</p><p>Apple has built a dominant consumer franchise, but there are also real risks to the company as rivals push forward with the next computing platform. <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/META\">Meta Platforms</a></b>, for example, will spend close to $20 billion next year to make its visions of the metaverse a reality, and other companies like <b>Nvidia</b> and <b>Microsoft</b> are pushing past the mobile computing era as well.</p><p>Apple still gets more than half of its revenue from the iPhone, which it first introduced 15 years ago. And while the company has had success in raising prices on its trademark smartphone, it&#39;s bound to reach a limit in what people are willing to pay, especially with a global recession potentially around the corner. The law of large numbers will eventually catch up to it, and it will run out of new customers to convert.</p><p>Finally, Apple&#39;s services segment, which is underpinned by its App Store, is facing more legal challenges as companies balk at its 30% commission fee. In the year after a negative total annual return for the S&amp;P, the index is up by 12.6% on average and is positive 17 out of 25 years, according to data compiled by DataTrek Research.</p><p>But the market’s performance after posting a double-digit percentage drop has been less straightforward.</p><p>“The S&amp;P 500 has a much better win rate (79% vs 55%) and average performance (up 17.5% vs. 6.4%) in the 12 months following a down calendar year of less than 10% than one that does worse than that, and 2022 is shaping up to be in the latter camp,” said Jessica Rabe, co-founder of DataTrek Research, in a Tuesday note.</p><p>Rabe, however, noted that in the few instances when the S&amp;P 500 has dropped consecutive calendar years, it’s been due to a major economic event, such as the Great Depression between 1929 and 1939, or a geopolitical shock, such as the World War II and the oil crisis in 1972, or both, in the case of the early 2000s when there was the bursting of the dot-com bubble, the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and the subsequent U.S. invasion of Iraq.</p><p>She argued that there would likely need to be another major economic or geopolitical crisis for the S&amp;P 500 to fall for a second consecutive year in 2023. The first deliveries from these factories should start in the coming months, although they aren&#39;t likely to make any meaningful contributions until much later this year. In terms of pure volume growth, the Berlin and Austin facilities are more important items for next year&#39;s delivery surge.</p><p>Now that these factories are starting to produce vehicles, I&#39;m curious to see how street analysts react. As I&#39;ve detailed in previous articles, the street has been extremely conservative with regard to Tesla in recent quarters. As the table below shows, one analyst even sees Q4 revenues this year coming in below last year&#39;s Q4 total sales figure. Most Tesla bulls see at least an extra 125,000 deliveries in this year&#39;s Q4, so how is it possible that the company report lower revenue? These extremely low estimates continue to drag overall averages down, which helps Tesla report delivery, revenue, and earnings beats that don&#39;t truly reflect the reality here.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6a3c38eb92e463dd471485692153ab34\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"111\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/></p><p>Tesla Revenue Estimates(Seeking Alpha Estimates Page)</p><p>As for the current quarter, total revenues are expected to be down a little sequentially, implying flat to slightly higher deliveries. That implies around 310,000 deliveries for Q1, a bit below my current expectation for 324,000. We got decent numbers out of China for January, and we&#39;re expected to get February numbers rather soon. Perhaps good data on that front will get the street average up a bit to a more realistic expectation.</p><p>With gasoline prices soaring in recent weeks, the spotlight on electric vehicles has certainly increased. However, Tesla also faces a hit from the Russia situation as the country is a key nickel producer, and other commodity prices have also soared. The consumers being hurt the most by rising energy prices can&#39;t just go out and buy EVs that start at $60,000, which will impact the ongoing shift to electric vehicles.</p><p>Since Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck, for instance, prices of copper have nearly doubled, while cobalt, nickel, and lithium prices have more than doubled. That&#39;s going to make it hard for Tesla to achieve that sub $40,000 price point, unless it wants to lose a bit of money. For those arguing about massive battery savings coming up, just remember that the Model 3 starts at nearly $45,000 currently, and that&#39;s a much smaller vehicle and one that has been in mass production for years. Tesla is currently estimated to have well over a million reservations for the Cybertruck, so it will be interesting to see how many orders are canceled if prices jump 10%, 25%, or more once the vehicle actually comes to market.</p><p>Perhaps the biggest risk for Tesla currently doesn&#39;t actually involve everyday operations, as there are a number of ongoing high profile lawsuits involving the company and or Elon Musk. As the company&#39;s10-K filing details, a decision on the lawsuit against the SolarCity acquisition is due in the coming months. A trial related to the 2018 CEO award is scheduled for April, while another case involving the $420 going private transaction is scheduled for trial in May. At the same time, the SECis reportedly looking into Elon and Kimbal Musk for alleged insider trading charges. These legal actions could have widespread ramifications for Tesla, its executives, and board members, but to what degree is uncertain at this point.</p><p>As for Tesla shares, they remain in a very interesting place currently. Despite all the positive potential news for EV and solar lately, the stock has been hit with the overall market. Monday&#39;s close below $805 puts the stock well below the average street price target of $958. As the chart below shows, shares have recently lost the 200-day moving average (orange line). So why is the stock down?</p><p>The market tends to be forward-looking, and investors are worried about what they see on the horizon. Morgan Asset Management&#39;s comparison of the performance of dividend-paying stocks to those not paying a dividend over multiple decades speaks wonders. J.P. Morgan Asset Management, a division of money-center bank <b>JPMorgan Chase</b>, found that dividend-paying companies returned an annual average of 9.5% between 1972 and 2012. By comparison, the companies not paying a dividend crawled to an annualized return of 1.6% over the same period.</p><p>Over time, we should expect dividend stocks to outperform. Companies that parse out a dividend on a regular basis are often profitable, time-tested, and have transparent long-term outlooks. These are typically companies that won&#39;t keep investors awake at night with worry.</p><p>Ideally, income seekers want the highest dividend yield possible with the least amount of risk. However, risk and yield tend to correlate once yields hit 4% or above. In other words, high-yielding stocks can be yield traps -- i.e., companies with enticingly high yields where the underlying business model is struggling or broken.</p><p>The good news is that not all high-yielding stocks are bad news. The following three ultra-high-yielding stocks, which are averaging (yes, <i>averaging</i>) a 12.32% dividend yield, can generate $2,000 in annual dividend income with an initial investment of only $16,250 (split evenly, three ways).</p><h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NLY\">Annaly Capital Management</a>: 12.12% yield</h2><p>Mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) <b>Annaly Capital Management</b> (NYSE:NLY) is no stranger to ultra-high-yield dividend stock lists. It&#39;s perhaps the most-trusted ultra-high-yield stock, with an average yield of around 10% over the past two decades. The company has also doled out more than $20 billion in dividend income since its inception in 1997.</p><p>Mortgage REITs like Annaly have a relatively straightforward operating model, even if the securities they own can be somewhat complex. Annaly is looking to borrow money at the lowest short-term rate possible, and use this capital to purchase higher-yielding long-term assets, like mortgage-backed securities (MBSs). The wider the gap between the average yield on MBSs and the average borrowing rate (this difference is known as the net interest margin), the more money mortgage REITs like Annaly can make.</p><p>As you might imagine, the mortgage REIT operating model tends to be interest-rate sensitive, with lower rates often providing the best environment for companies like Annaly to thrive. Over the past couple of months, the interest rate yield curve has flattened a bit, with the 2-year and 10-year yields on U.S. Treasury bonds narrowing. Since the 10-year Treasury bond is a good predictor for where mortgage rates head next, this tightening has resulted in a shrinking book value for Annaly.</p><p>But if you pan out beyond just the next couple of quarters, there&#39;s a lot to be excited about. If the Federal Reserve does raise lending rates, as expected, it&#39;ll also lift the yields on the MBSs Annaly is purchasing. Over time, this will widen the company&#39;s net interest margin.</p><p>What&#39;s more, the interest rate yield curve spends a disproportionately longer period of time in steepening than it does flattening. That&#39;s because the U.S. economy spends years expanding, compared to a couple of months or a few quarters in recession. In short, patience should pay off handsomely for Annaly&#39;s shareholders.</p><h2>Icahn Enterprises: 14.44% yield</h2><p>Another high-yielding dividend stock that can deliver an enormous amount of income from a relatively small investment is diversified holding company <b>Icahn Enterprises</b> (NASDAQ:IEP). This master limited partnership has paid a quarterly distribution for nearly 17 consecutive years and is currently yielding north of 14%!</p><p>There are two key reasons Icahn Enterprises is a smart buy for patient, income-seeking investors (aside from its insanely high yield). First, you get the leadership of Carl Icahn, who&#39;s the founder of the company and the chairman of the board of directors. Icahn is arguably <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the best-known activist investors on Wall Street. Activist investors usually buy up a single-digit-percentage stake in a company with the goal of gaining board seats or effecting change(s) to increase shareholder value. Sometimes this means pushing for the sale of noncore assets, introducing a capital return program, or perhaps putting an entire company up for sale.</p><p>The beauty of the activist-investor approach is that it usually benefits shareholders. While no activist investor has a perfect track record of success, Icahn has shown that he can help create value in virtually any economic environment. That&#39;s been demonstrated by Icahn Enterprises&#39; 66 consecutive quarterly distributions.</p><p>The second reason this ultra-high-yield stock can be a foundation for income seekers is the cyclical ties of its core holdings. The company has more than a half-dozen different industries represented by its operating segments. But a large percentage of this representation is tied to the energy and automotive industries. As noted, even though recessions are inevitable, periods of expansion last considerably longer. This suggests the natural expansion of the U.S. and global economy over time will allow the value of Icahn Enterprises&#39; cyclical holdings to increase.</p><h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AGNCO\">AGNC Investment Corp.</a>: 10.4% yield</h2><p>The third ultra-high-yield dividend stock that can pad investors&#39; pocketbooks is <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AGNCM\">AGNC Investment Corp</a>.</b> (NASDAQ:AGNC). It has averaged a double-digit yield in 12 of the past 13 years, making it one of the most consistently high-yielding companies of the past decade.</p><p>AGNC is another mortgage REIT that investors can trust. It has the same basic operating model as Annaly Capital Management, with a unique aspect or two that income seekers should be aware of.</p><p>For instance, AGNC has been parsing out its dividend on a monthly basis since October 2014. Most dividend stocks and mortgage REITs, including Annaly, pay their dividends once a quarter. If you prefer the adrenaline rush of nabbing a payout from your holdings on a monthly basis, buying AGNC is the smart way to go.</p><p>Something else to note about AGNC Investment is the company&#39;s penchant for buying agency securities. An agency asset is backed by the federal government in the event of default. As of the end of 2021, $79.7 billion of AGNC&#39;s $82 billion investment portfolio was agency securities. This is an even higher percentage of agency securities, relative to total portfolio holdings, than Annaly has. Though this added protection does lower the yields AGNC nets from the MBSs it purchases, it also allows the company to deploy leverage to boost its profit potential.</p><p>The transparency of the mortgage REIT industry also allows income investors to make smart decisions. The stocks in this industry tend to trade very close to their respective book values. Whether you love chasing after the innovative capacity of growth stocks or prefer the simplicity of value stocks, either strategy can work wonders over the long run.But when it comes to wealth building, few investing strategies have been more consistent than buying dividend stocks.Although it's a report I reference often, J.P. Morgan Asset Management's comparison of the performance of dividend-paying stocks to those not paying a dividend over multiple decades speaks wonders. J.P. Morgan Asset Management, a division of money-center bank JPMorgan Chase, found that dividend-paying companies returned an annual average of 9.5% between 1972 and 2012. By comparison, the companies not paying a dividend crawled to an annualized return of 1.6% over the same period.Over time, we should expect dividend stocks to outperform. Companies that parse out a dividend on a regular basis are often profitable, time-tested, and have transparent long-term outlooks. These are typically companies that won't keep investors awake at night with worry.Ideally, income seekers want the highest dividend yield possible with the least amount of risk. However, risk and yield tend to correlate once yields hit 4% or above. In other words, high-yielding stocks can be yield traps -- i.e., companies with enticingly high yields where the underlying business model is struggling or broken.The good news is that not all high-yielding stocks are bad news. The following three ultra-high-yielding stocks, which are averaging (yes, averaging) a 12.32% dividend yield, can generate $2,000 in annual dividend income with an initial investment of only $16,250 (split evenly, three ways).Annaly Capital Management: 12.12% yieldMortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) Annaly Capital Management (NYSE:NLY) is no stranger to ultra-high-yield dividend stock lists. It's perhaps the most-trusted ultra-high-yield stock, with an average yield of around 10% over the past two decades. The company has also doled out more than $20 billion in dividend income since its inception in 1997.Mortgage REITs like Annaly have a relatively straightforward operating model, even if the securities they own can be somewhat complex. Annaly is looking to borrow money at the lowest short-term rate possible, and use this capital to purchase higher-yielding long-term assets, like mortgage-backed securities (MBSs). The wider the gap between the average yield on MBSs and the average borrowing rate (this difference is known as the net interest margin), the more money mortgage REITs like Annaly can make.As you might imagine, the mortgage REIT operating model tends to be interest-rate sensitive, with lower rates often providing the best environment for companies like Annaly to thrive. Over the past couple of months, the interest rate yield curve has flattened a bit, with the 2-year and 10-year yields on U.S. Treasury bonds narrowing. Since the 10-year Treasury bond is a good predictor for where mortgage rates head next, this tightening has resulted in a shrinking book value for Annaly.But if you pan out beyond just the next couple of quarters, there's a lot to be excited about. If the Federal Reserve does raise lending rates, as expected, it'll also lift the yields on the MBSs Annaly is purchasing. Over time, this will widen the company's net interest margin.What's more, the interest rate yield curve spends a disproportionately longer period of time in steepening than it does flattening. That's because the U.S. economy spends years expanding, compared to a couple of months or a few quarters in recession. In short, patience should pay off handsomely for Annaly's shareholders.Icahn Enterprises: 14.44% yieldAnother high-yielding dividend stock that can deliver an enormous amount of income from a relatively small investment is diversified holding company Icahn Enterprises (NASDAQ:IEP). This master limited partnership has paid a quarterly distribution for nearly 17 consecutive years and is currently yielding north of 14%!There are two key reasons Icahn Enterprises is a smart buy for patient, income-seeking investors (aside from its insanely high yield). First, you get the leadership of Carl Icahn, who's the founder of the company and the chairman of the board of directors. Icahn is arguably one of the best-known activist investors on Wall Street. Activist investors usually buy up a single-digit-percentage stake in a company with the goal of gaining board seats or effecting change(s) to increase shareholder value. Sometimes this means pushing for the sale of noncore assets, introducing a capital return program, or perhaps putting an entire company up for sale.The beauty of the activist-investor approach is that it usually benefits shareholders. While no activist investor has a perfect track record of success, Icahn has shown that he can help create value in virtually any economic environment. That's been demonstrated by Icahn Enterprises' 66 consecutive quarterly distributions.The second reason this ultra-high-yield stock can be a foundation for income seekers is the cyclical ties of its core holdings. The company has more than a half-dozen different industries represented by its operating segments. But a large percentage of this representation is tied to the energy and automotive industries. As noted, even though recessions are inevitable, periods of expansion last considerably longer. This suggests the natural expansion of the U.S. and global economy over time will allow the value of Icahn Enterprises' cyclical holdings to increase.AGNC Investment Corp.: 10.4% yieldThe third ultra-high-yield dividend stock that can pad investors' pocketbooks is AGNC Investment Corp. (NASDAQ:AGNC). It has averaged a double-digit yield in 12 of the past 13 years, making it one of the most consistently high-yielding companies of the past decade.AGNC is another mortgage REIT that investors can trust. It has the same basic operating model as Annaly Capital Management, with a unique aspect or two that income seekers should be aware of.For instance, AGNC has been parsing out its dividend on a monthly basis since October 2014. Most dividend stocks and mortgage REITs, including Annaly, pay their dividends once a quarter. If you prefer the adrenaline rush of nabbing a payout from your holdings on a monthly basis, buying AGNC is the smart way to go.Something else to note about AGNC Investment is the company's penchant for buying agency securities. An agency asset is backed by the federal government in the event of default. As of the end of 2021, $79.7 billion of AGNC's $82 billion investment portfolio was agency securities. This is an even higher percentage of agency securities, relative to total portfolio holdings, than Annaly has. Though this added protection does lower the yields AGNC nets from the MBSs it purchases, it also allows the company to deploy leverage to boost its profit potential.The transparency of the mortgage REIT industry also allows income investors to make smart decisions. The stocks in this industry tend to trade very close to their respective book values. With AGNC's shares changing hands for just 88% of their book value at the time of this writing, it makes for not only an excellent income stock, but a fantastic bounce-back candidate from a share price
