UNH: Strong Buy Signal from Analysts. Jump ?

Mixed Tuesday. To me, it was a “mixed” trading day in US market on Tue, 13 May 2025 after a weaker-than-forecast inflation data was released. This was just as what I have “expected” & expressed in my post dated 13 May 2025. Click here ! for reasons why, Repost to share ok. Thanks. When trading ended on Tuesday, Dow fell, while S&P 500 & Nasdaq rose: (see above) DJIA: -0.64% (-269.67 TO 42,140.43). S&P 500: +0.72% (+42.36 to 5,886.35). Closed with a YTD gain for the 1st time since late February 2025 with 19 posted new 52-week highs and 6 posted new low. Nasdaq: +1.61% (+301.74 to 19,010.08). 2,590 stocks rose and 1,904 fell as advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 1.36-to-1 ratio. On Tuesday, 17.8

CPI Inflation stops US market & Mag 7 rally ?

What a way to start a new trading week, with a “Bang”. US market rallied after it was announced that US and China agreed to temporarily slash tariffs following negotiations over the weekend in Geneva, Switzerland. The 90-days halt has raised hope that a trade war won’t push US economy into a recession. Personally, I think this is the false hope that traders “want to believe” so that it is trading-as-usual again. US market as of 12 May 2025 By the time US market closed for the day: DJIA: +2.81% (+1,160.72 to 42,410.10). Near intraday high, with strong buying enthusiasm intact. S&P 500: +3.26% (+184.28 to 5,844.19). Index has gained more than 20% since its April 2025’s low. Posted 15 new 52-week highs and 3 new lows. Nasdaq: +4.35% (+779.43 to 18,708.34). Cathie Wood Buys $COIN, $SQ. Sells $TSLA - Low Value ?

Summary sale / purchase by Ms Cathie Wood : Sold - 139,642 Tesla shares at $192.22 per share. Total sales proceeds - $26.84 Million. Bought - 268,928 Coinbase shares at $66.30 per share. Total purchase costs - $17.83 Million. Bought - 320,557 Block shares at $61.88 per share. Total purchase costs - $19.84 Million. Ark funds forked out additional $10.83 Million to complete above 2 purchases. A few things came to mind when I came across above news article.. The obvious question is “Why did Ms Cathie Wood sell $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ and used the proceeds to fund additional purchase of $Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$ and $Block(SQ)$ ? Before examining each reason under the

US Market on 23 Mar 2023. Get Out Of Bank Stocks ?

US market on Wed (22 Mar) traded directionlessly until 2:00pm when the FOMC meeting was over with the press conference by Mr Powell, hot on the heels. When the 0.25% interest hike was confirmed, market “reacted positively” initially. It was afterall the much anticipated 0.25% and not the much feared 0.5%. The “euphoria” proved to be short-lived as the press conference pressed on with Mr Powell further confirming that there would be no let down from the central bank in their fight to bring inflation down. Personally I think, it is commendable that the Fed Reserves provides a clear direction of where they are heading without being ambiguous. Doing so minimizes “speculations” of any sorts to be postulated by Wall Street to smoke-screen and “fool” the general public. Agree ? By The Time Market

FAANG isn't FAANG-tastic anymore, except META? Read & decide.

The FAANG stocks, which comprise some of the most influential and profitable tech companies in the world, have disappointed their investors in the latest quarter of 2023. Despite their remarkable growth in previous quarters, the FAANG have: Failed to meet the high expectations of the market. Reported less than perfect earnings results. This has wrong footed many investors who were: Betting on the continued dominance of these tech giants in the post-pandemic era. Hoping that the FAANG’s fantastic results could lift up the US market, given a depressing Sep and Oct 2023. $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$, formerly known as Facebook, has “better” its earnings estimates. The company reported: Earnings per share (EPS) of $4.39, well above consensus estimate

US Market rises from October? Read & decide.

Of late, the internet has been flooded with posts by “veterans” dishing out negative news about the US —economy and stock market are on the verge of collapse (see below). When you come across such posts, how do you make sense of them? Personally, it depends who is dishing out such news? For instance, Mr Marko Kolanovic from JP Morgan is high profile when it comes to the US market. How could he not be, coming from $JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$, US #1 international bank. Sometimes he makes sense but many a times, he,…. (fill in the blanks yourself ok).. LOL! Then you have Mr Robert Kiyosaki, accidental writer of best seller “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. Listen to him is akin to listening to Ms Cathie Woods. Why would anyone listen to him when: He professed that his

ADM, NKE, GM fall, if US-China Trade Talk Stalls?

President’s 100 Days in office. US (Scott Bessent & Jamieson Greer) and China (Vice Premier He Lifeng) convene this weekend in Geneva for their initial trade talk since Trump unleashed a trade war against the world, as promised during his presidential campaign. The trump administration has just passed its 100-days in office with nothing to show for except: Supply chain disruptions worldwide. Deep divide domestically. Not forgetting the mass layoff of agencies staff and all sorts of internal chaos. Of the blanket tariffs imposed on a worldwide scale, Trump was ‘proud’ of the “breakthrough deal” (whatever that means) when he announced it on Thu, 08 May 2025. (see below) Note, it’s only a PR publicity stun (for now). The trade agreement is NOT signed yet because some final details are s

Tesla Stock Price Fall Again, Like The Past?

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ released its Q2 2023 earnings on Wed 19 Jul 2023 after US market closed. This was followed by a press conference to answer queries that analysts, wall street professionals may have. Reactions on the following 2 days - Thu, 20 Jul & Fri, 21 Jul best summed up Wall Street sentiments. They did not like all the negatives stemming from the clarifications session. Does this signal the beginning of another Tesla correction? Below are some possible catalysts that I think might spur decline: (1) Q3 2023 EV volume will be reduced. During Q2 earnings press conference, mr musk announced that in Q3 2023, the giga factories will shutdown for factory improvements. (see above). Meaning output and delivery will be affected. US Banks' Headwinds Are Opportunities? $JPM, $MS..

This is how I see the US “bigger” banks in the coming months and into 2024. It is based off an accumulation of: March 2023 US banking debacle that has brought down 3 US banks - (a) Signature Bank, (b) Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and finally, (c) First Republic. News articles that I have come across in recent months. Extract of Mr Powell’s testimony with Senate Banking Committee on Thu, 22 Jun. This is how I see it. Summary. US banking sector is facing a challenging outlook in the second half of 2023 and into 2024, as it: Grapples with the aftermath of the March banking debacle. Adheres to the FDIC's latest levy. Explores the Fed's new credit requirement and Enforces credit tightening within the industry. Below is analysis of each factor and its implications to the US bigger banks. (1) Th

When I came across the above article, I sat up quickly, click on it and savour the article in one sitting. When the world’s largest assets manager, $BlackRock(BLK)$ CEO, Mr Larry Finks said something so “profound”, we need to pay close attention especially when distilled to its essence, it is about money & investments. My usual prelude before deep diving into the main content. What is Environmental, Social & corporate Governance (ESG)? NIO on Catalyst watch, Time to Buy ?

Stock Take. Shares of Chinese EV maker $NIO Inc.(NIO)$ have soared by almost +40% since first week of April 2025. One Wall Street analyst thinks that's just the beginning. Not only that, $Citigroup(C)$, Analyst Jeff Chung believes more moves higher are imminent. As reported by Barron, Chung has in a Sunday (28 Apr 2025) report: Placed NIO on a 30-day positive "catalyst watch". Chung even thinks the stock is worth $8.10 per share. That would represent a more than 100% gain from where it traded at the time of his report. NIO stock to double? Nio delivered about 42,000 EVs in Q1 2025. This is more than +40% YoY increase. Will Nvidia rise above $100 anytime soon ?

At the start of the week, the Dow fell more than 1,200 points. TSLA rally for a 4th Week, this Week ?

Recap. After 2 days of rallying, US market consolidated ahead of the 2-day US-China trade talk, held in Geneva, Switzerland. Investors were wary of anything potentially negative coming from the meetings. As a result, the little bit of anxiety and a fair amount of profit taking, drove US market to end the week, marginally lower. (see below) DJIA: -0.29% (-119.07 to 41,249.38). S&P 500: -0.07% (-4.03 to 5,659.91). Nasdaq: 0.00% (+0.78 to 17,928.92). For the week, the Dow lost -0.2%, while S&P 500 fell -0.5% and Nasdaq slipped -0.3%. With the latest “good” news coming out of the US-China trade talk, it looks like the right excuse / alibi for US market to rally again, at least for the next 3 months. Jobs & Earnings Rock US Market This Week ?

The Week In Rally. I am sure everyone knows that US market had a good 4 day run last week from Tuesday to Friday. When trading ended for the week: (see above) DJIA: +3.10% (+1,207.46 to 40.113.50). S&P 500: +5.59% (+292.57 to 5,525.21). Nasdaq: +8.29% (+1,330.18 to 17, 382.94). The Big Question. US pre-market indicators for Mon, 28 Apr 2025, show a slight decline across major indexes: Dow futures are down 14 points (-0.03%) at 40,240. S&P 500 futures are down 2.5 points (-0.05%) at 5,547.25.
