As of 8:15 a.m. ET, futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI) were down 84 points to 34,887. However, S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) futures were up 8 points to 4,477, and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) futures had picked up 125 points to 14,617.

Investors continued to scrutinize the latest financial reports from some top companies. Social media icon Snap (NYSE:SNAP) managed to post a huge gain as it avoided the stigma that rival Meta Platforms had suffered the day before. However, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) wasn't as fortunate, as the automaker continues to face operational challenges that are limiting its ability to take advantage of high demand.

Snap gets a big bounce

Shares of Snap rebounded strongly from big losses on Thursday. After declining 24% due to concerns about Meta's performance, the Snapchat parent's stock soared more than 40% in premarket trading on Friday morning.

The catalyst for the gains was Snap's fourth-quarter financial report, in which it dispelled many of the concerns that Meta's report had raised about the social media industry generally. Quarterly revenue jumped 42% year over year, and Snap posted its first quarter of positive net income since becoming a publicly traded company. For the full year, Snap's 2021 revenue was up 64% from 2020 levels, and the company cut its loss nearly in half while producing positive free cash flow for the first time.

Key user metrics were also higher at Snap. Daily active users jumped by 54 million, or 20%, to 319 million at the end of the fourth quarter. That marked the fifth consecutive quarter that Snap's user count rose at least 20% year over year. Snap saw increased interest in all three of its geographical segments.

Looking ahead, Snap remains optimistic about its prospects. Revenue projections for $1.03 billion to $1.08 billion and adjusted pre-tax operating profits predicted to break even came as good news for shareholders. Given the concerns Meta had raised, Snap shareholders were happy to breathe a sigh of relief.

Supply chain issues hold back Ford

Elsewhere, shares of Ford Motor Company were down more than 6% in premarket trading. The automaker's fourth-quarter financials didn't live up to the high expectations of its shareholders.

Ford's key metrics were mixed. Revenue rose 5% to $37.7 billion, and net income moved from a year-ago loss to a profit of $12.3 billion. However, on an adjusted basis, earnings of $0.26 per share were down by nearly 25% from year-earlier levels. Wholesale units fell a steep 11% to 1.104 million, finishing 2021 with a 6% drop year over year.

Geographically, Ford's results revealed some of the impacts that supply chain issues raised. North American market share rose 2.2 percentage points to 14.3%, showing strength in Ford's home market. However, market share plunged in South America and also fell sharply in Europe, with the automaker citing semiconductor shortages that produced a quarterly loss in the European market.

Looking ahead, investors are waiting anxiously to see how the launch of the electric F-150 Lightning goes. With so much of the stock's gains hinging on how well Ford is able to catch up on the EV front, all eyes will be on making sure that the company can overcome any lingering supply chain issues and get its electric trucks out the door and into the hands of waiting customers.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Snap Snapped Back While Ford Stalled Out
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Snap Snapped Back While Ford Stalled Out\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-02-04 22:53 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The stock market had a tough day on Thursday, and market participants seemed to want to find some level ground amid the persistent volatility they've experienced in recent months. However, S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) futures were up 8 points to 4,477, and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) futures had picked up 125 points to 14,617.Investors continued to scrutinize the latest financial reports from some top companies. Social media icon Snap (NYSE:SNAP) managed to post a huge gain as it avoided the stigma that rival Meta Platforms had suffered the day before. However, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) wasn't as fortunate, as the automaker continues to face operational challenges that are limiting its ability to take advantage of high demand.Snap gets a big bounceShares of Snap rebounded strongly from big losses on Thursday. For the full year, Snap's 2021 revenue was up 64% from 2020 levels, and the company cut its loss nearly in half while producing positive free cash flow for the first time.Key user metrics were also higher at Snap. Daily active users jumped by 54 million, or 20%, to 319 million at the end of the fourth quarter. That marked the fifth consecutive quarter that Snap's user count rose at least 20% year over year. Snap saw increased interest in all three of its geographical segments.Looking ahead, Snap remains optimistic about its prospects. Revenue projections for $1.03 billion to $1.08 billion and adjusted pre-tax operating profits predicted to break even came as good news for shareholders. Given the concerns Meta had raised, Snap shareholders were happy to breathe a sigh of relief.Supply chain issues hold back FordElsewhere, shares of Ford Motor Company were down more than 6% in premarket trading. The automaker's fourth-quarter financials didn't live up to the high expectations of its shareholders.Ford's key metrics were mixed. Revenue rose 5% to $37.7 billion, and net income moved from a year-ago loss to a profit of $12.3 billion. However, on an adjusted basis, earnings of $0.26 per share were down by nearly 25% from year-earlier levels. Wholesale units fell a steep 11% to 1.104 million, finishing 2021 with a 6% drop year over year.Geographically, Ford's results revealed some of the impacts that supply chain issues raised. North American market share rose 2.2 percentage points to 14.3%, showing strength in Ford's home market. However, market share plunged in South America and also fell sharply in Europe, with the automaker citing semiconductor shortages that produced a quarterly loss in the European market.Looking ahead, investors are waiting anxiously to see how the launch of the electric F-150 Lightning goes. With so much of the stock's gains hinging on how well Ford is able to catch up on the EV front, all eyes will be on making sure that the company can overcome any lingering supply chain issues and get its electric trucks out the door and into the hands of waiting customers.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1836,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9098901782,"gmtCreate":1643986919551,"gmtModify":1676533879085,"author":{"id":"3586414813423464","authorId":"3586414813423464","name":"Godddy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/31cc8b9a10f9eb58e8842318945f46ae","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586414813423464","authorIdStr":"3586414813423464"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9098901782","repostId":"2208310046","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2208310046","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1643986472,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2208310046?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-02-04 22:54","market":"us","language":"en","title":"This Red-Hot Value Stock Just Raised Its Dividend by 49%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2208310046","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"UPS continues to navigate industry challenges with ease.","content":"

There are a lot of valid excuses a company can make for poor results: the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, rising interest rates, inflation, a tight labor market, supply-chain constraints, etc. United Parcel Service (NYSE:UPS) continues to acknowledge these challenges and posts monster results, anyway.

UPS shares hit a fresh all-time high earlier this week after the company reported record Q4 and full-year results. Points
\n
\n
Contributing to a retirement account isn’t the only way to build long-term financial security.
\n
A 401(k) is a powerful way to save money for retirement, but consider it relative to your other financial needs.
\n
\n
The standard advice to maximize your 401(k) is excellent, but it doesn't suit everyone all the time. There are a few reasons why contributing as much as you can to your retirement fund might not make sense, at least not some years. That's because a traditional 401(k) locks your money away until you are 59 ½. Early withdrawal is allowed, but only in limited circumstances or with a tax penalty. It is not the only way to set aside money for retirement, either.
\n

\n
\n
1. You have high-interest debt
\n
Early in your career, you might have high-cost debt to address. If you have high interest debt, such as credit cards or installment loans with interest rates above 15%, it may be best to concentrate on paying that off before contributing too much to your 401(k).
\n
Also, if you are having trouble making the minimum payments on student loans or scramble to pay your rent every month, you may not have enough slack in your budget. Contributing to a retirement plan could actually hurt you in the near term. Look for ways to increase your income or reduce your spending before committing to long-term savings. Eventually, you should be able to afford to put enough money into your retirement to earn any employer match offered, then build to a full contribution.
\n
2. You want to retire early
\n
Some people want to retire before the age of 59 ½. If this is you, it's a good idea to have money outside of traditional retirement accounts. For some, this will involve aggressive savings (the Financially Independent, Retired Early crowd). For others, it's simply having money set aside for a year or two before traditional retirement accounts can be tapped. If early retirement is your goal, consider slowing down your 401(k) contributions once your account balance is adequate. It may be better to put your money in taxable accounts rather than pay the 10% penalty tax on early withdrawals.
\n
3. You want to avoid huge required minimum distributions
\n
Once you turn 72, the IRS requires you to take a minimum amount from IRA and 401(k) accounts. This required minimum distribution is based on the account value and your age. For most people, this is not a concern; they are more concerned about having enough money in their retirement accounts, not having too much.
\n
A fortunate few find these required minimum withdrawals to be far larger than they want. If you have made maximum contributions for years, had success in the financial markets, and possibly have large deferred compensation funds in rollover IRA accounts that are included in the minimum distribution requirements, you may end up with ridiculously large RMDs and tax bills.
\n
If you're part of this minority of folks who may be forced to withdraw more money than they know what to do with, curtailing retirement contributions may be a good idea. You can put your savings into other investment vehicles, or consider giving it to charity to share your bounty.
\n
4. You're considering health care and long-term care
\n
Many retirees have high health-care costs. Medicare is a pretty good deal, but it doesn't cover everything. A health savings account is a tax-advantaged way to save for copayments, deductibles, vision care, and dental care. If you are eligible for a health savings account with your current health insurance, and if your retirement accounts are in good shape, consider maxing out your HSA contribution. The funds should roll over and be in place for you when you retire. The maximum HSA contribution for 2021 is $3600 for an individual and $7200 for a married couple filing jointly.
\n
Long-term care is especially expensive, whether it involves help at home, assisted living, or a skilled nursing facility. Long-term care insurance is available and is relatively inexpensive the younger that you are. If your basic retirement needs are covered, buying a long-term care policy instead of making a 401(k) contribution may be a good bet.
\n
By all means, maximize your 401(k) contribution if it makes sense, and participate just enough to get any employer match (free money!). But if you find yourself identifying with any of the points above, you may want to consider saving for retirement in a different way, at least for now.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Max Out Your 401(k)
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Max Out Your 401(k)\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-10 15:35 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Consider these points before maxing out your 401(k).\n\nKey Points\n\nContributing to a retirement account isn’t the only way to build long-term financial security.\nA 401(k) is a powerful way to save ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite","SPY":"标普500ETF",".DJI":"道琼斯",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/09/09/4-reasons-why-you-shouldnt-max-out-your-401k/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2166310555","content_text":"Consider these points before maxing out your 401(k).\n\nKey Points\n\nContributing to a retirement account isn’t the only way to build long-term financial security.\nA 401(k) is a powerful way to save money for retirement, but consider it relative to your other financial needs.\n\nThe standard advice to maximize your 401(k) is excellent, but it doesn't suit everyone all the time. But if you find yourself identifying with any of the points above, you may want to consider saving for retirement in a different way, at least for now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":166,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":883461412,"gmtCreate":1631263698736,"gmtModify":1676530513160,"author":{"id":"3586414813423464","authorId":"3586414813423464","name":"Godddy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/31cc8b9a10f9eb58e8842318945f46ae","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586414813423464","authorIdStr":"3586414813423464"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMD(AMD)$so slowww","listText":"$AMD(AMD)$so slowww","text":"$AMD(AMD)$so slowww","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ecec0013d06e4dc366d5afe90675f388","width":"1080","height":"3255"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/883461412","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1424,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":889127916,"gmtCreate":1631116920035,"gmtModify":1676530473874,"author":{"id":"3586414813423464","authorId":"3586414813423464","name":"Godddy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/31cc8b9a10f9eb58e8842318945f46ae","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586414813423464","authorIdStr":"3586414813423464"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/889127916","repostId":"1154837170","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1154837170","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1631090918,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1154837170?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2021-09-08 16:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Bitcoin Endured a Rocky Day. About 80% of the Gulf of Mexico's oil and gas output remained offline in hundreds of platforms and rigs as energy firms struggled to complete aerial surveys and return workers because of damages to onshore terminals and base sites.
\n
A few companies, including BHP and Murphy Oil
\n
, took first steps for restarting offshore production, but they were in the minority. Just 39 of the 288 platforms evacuated last week had received new crews by Wednesday, according to the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.
\n
Some pipeline, ports and oil processing facilities were able to resume operations. But most were hampered by power outages, lack of supplies and damages caused by the powerful winds.
\n
Port Fourchon, Louisiana, a vital center of offshore logistics where Ida made landfall, was left without power and water and its roads closed to all but emergency vehicles.
\n
\"The area is completely devastated,\" said Tony Odak, chief operating officer of Stone Oil Distributor, a top supplier of fuel to the offshore industry. His company was relocating some activities to western Louisiana as part of its recovery plan.
\n
The storm's severity was brought into focus by damages suffered by a drill ship that was tossed by Ida's winds. Nine crew members were injured and four taken off Noble Corp's Globetrotter II. The U.S. Coast Guard sent a cutter and aircraft to escort the damaged vessel to port.
\n
Most of Louisiana's ports, including the Port of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, were reopened to vessel traffic on Thursday, the Coast Guard said. In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.
\n
Despite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.
\n
1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle
\n
The traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.
\n
Opendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.
\n
After seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including Zillow Group and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.
\n
According to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.
\n
2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule
\n
When companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.
\n
Fast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"
\n
In other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.
\n
3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?
\n
Investors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.
\n
Investors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.
\n
But if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. If we take Eric Wu's comments about revenue and assume that Opendoor does sales of $10 billion in 2022 (in other words, Opendoor stops growing and maintains its current pace over the following year), the stock currently trades at aprice-to-sales(P/S) ratio of just 1.0. That's a bargain-bin valuation.
\n
Competitor Zillow Group trades at a P/S ratio of more than 3, reflecting Opendoor's discount as a former SPAC.
\n
Here's the bottom line
\n
Real estate is a huge market, and it's a complicated industry because of the clash between traditional agents and the \"new kids\" on the block trying to bring technology into homebuying. It's too early to say that Opendoor will become the \"Amazon\" of home buying, but what seems certain is that the company is poised to be a big player in real estate's future if it keeps performing like this.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
This Unloved Tech Stock Could Make You Rich One Day
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThis Unloved Tech Stock Could Make You Rich One Day\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-29 09:41 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Key Points\n\nThe iBuying business is a race to grow larger, and Opendoor is winning.\nThe company is growing at a rate that is two years ahead of what management projected just a year earlier.\nThe ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"OPEN":"Opendoor Technologies Inc"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/08/28/this-unloved-tech-stock-may-make-you-rich-one-day/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1129129956","content_text":"Key Points\n\nThe iBuying business is a race to grow larger, and Opendoor is winning.\nThe company is growing at a rate that is two years ahead of what management projected just a year earlier.\nThe market is bearish on virtually all SPACs, making Opendoor a bargain that could eventually bring huge returns.\n\n\nReal estate iBuying company Opendoor Technologies(NASDAQ:OPEN)has been executing at a high level in the three quarters since coming public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger.
