provide cloud services. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)
\n
U.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.
\n
Cloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.
\n
Below is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.
\n
To begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:
\n
Source: FactSet
\n
ETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.
\n
Here’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:
\n
Source: FactSet
\n
The ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.
\n
Another holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.
\n
As part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:
\n
“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”
\n
Cloud-stock screen
\n
Together, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)\nU.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.\nCloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.\nBelow is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.\nTo begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:\nSource: FactSet\nETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.\nHere’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:\nSource: FactSet\nThe ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.\nAnother holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.\nAs part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:\n“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”\nCloud-stock screen\nTogether, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (The 2020 numbers are estimates, because many companies’ fiscal years don’t match the calendar.)\nTo make sure we had a solid set of estimates, we confined the group to the 126 companies covered by at least five analysts polled by FactSet, for which consensus sales estimates for calendar 2020 through calendar 2023 are available.\nHere are the 20 companies projected to have the highest compound annual growth rates (CAGR) for sales through calendar 2023:\n\nSource: FactSet\nThere are actually 21 stocks listed, including Zillow Group Inc.’s Class A and Class C shares.\nIt is interesting to see that the list is dominated by stocks held by ARKW. The fund has a broad definition of cloud companies and is focused also on sales growth.\nHere are current forward price-to-sales ratios based on consensus estimates for the next 12 months, as well as ratios of current market cap to projected 2023 sales and summaries of analysts’ opinions about the stocks.\n\nSource: FactSet\nIn comparison, the forward price-to-sales ratio for SPY is 2.8, with a price/2023 estimated sales ratio of 2.6. Most of the focus is likely to center on Chairman Jerome Powell’s news conference at 2:30 p.m. Here’s what to watch:
\n
Taper timing
\n
Officials are likely to receive a formal staff briefing around when to start paring their monthly purchases of $80 billion in Treasury securities and $40 billion in mortgage securities, and how quickly to reduce, or taper, them.
\n
The Fed began buying large quantities of the securities in March 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic triggered a near-meltdown in financial markets. With the Fed’s short-term interest rate at zero, the purchases are designed to provide additional stimulus by holding down long-term interest rates.
\n
Some officials are concerned that a burst of inflation this year from bottlenecks associated with reopening the economy will prove more durable than previously anticipated. These policy makers are eager to start the taper, in part because they and their colleagues have said they aren’t likely to consider raising interest rates from near zero until they are done tapering the asset purchases.
\n
Another camp thinks recent price pressures will subside and could leave the Fed in the same position that it faced for much of the past decade, in which global forces kept inflation below 2% even with historically low interest rates. They are worried that accelerating plans to wind down the asset purchases could raise questions among investors about the Fed’s commitment to achieving its economic goals.
\n
Because Mr. Powell has pledged to provide ample notice to financial markets before the Fed starts tapering to avoid catching investors by surprise, the central bank looks unlikely to start the process now or at its next meeting in September. Mr. Powell’s press conference will be heavily scrutinized for clues on how officials judge recent economic progress. In April, he said the Fed was “a long way from” its tapering goals, and he characterized the economy as “still a ways off” from them in June.
\n
Purchase pace
\n
Officials also must consider the pace of any reductions. Some officials have discussed concluding the purchases around October 2022 so they could lift rates soon thereafter if the recovery is stronger or inflation is higher than now anticipated.
\n
During a prior asset-purchase program that ended in 2014, the Fed shrank its purchases in modest, equal amounts over the course of 10 months. It then waited another 14 months before raising interest rates.
\n
Another tactical question centers on whether to reduce the pace of Treasurys and mortgage-backed securities equally. Some officials have raised concerns about rising home prices and are pressing to stop purchases of mortgage bonds sooner.
\n
But Mr. Powell and other officials have poured cold water on those concerns in recent weeks. They have said mortgage buying, by purchasing longer-dated assets, provides a way to more broadly stimulate the economy and isn’t focused squarely on housing markets.
\n
“If the housing market has you really worried, that’s an argument for just tapering everything sooner and faster,” said William English, a former senior Fed economist who is now a professor at the Yale School of Management.
\n
Inflation outlook
\n
For a third straight month in June, inflation ran hotter than many economists had expected. The Labor Department’s consumer-price index increased 5.4% from a year ago, the highest 12-month rate since August 2008.
\n
Mr. Powell said two weeks ago that many of the elevated price pressures can still be traced to goods and services affected by supply-chain bottlenecks and other pandemic-driven upheaval. As a result, he said it would be too soon for the Fed to abandon its earlier expectation that prices will return to their 2% target on their own and to raise rates to cool down demand and reduce inflation faster.
\n
But Mr. Powell could face questions over how long the central bank and its 12-member rate-setting committee feels it would take to revisit their projections. Price pressures in some sectors of the economy where inflation had been subdued over the past year, including residential rents, have picked in recent months.
\n
Delta variant
\n
Mr. Powell is also likely to be pressed on how the recent increase in Covid-19 cases among unvaccinated populations could reshape the central bank’s growth forecasts for the rest of the year. While a return to shutdowns and other state-mandated restrictions on activity seem less likely than a year ago, increased hesitancy on the part of consumers to return to normal spending routines could complicate the economic outlook.
\n
Since Fed officials last met in June, government-bond prices have jumped, a sign that investors are less confident about long-term growth prospects and less worried about inflation.
\n
Yields, which rise when bond prices fall, climbed sharply earlier in the year, lifted by expectations that vaccinations and fiscal stimulus would spur an economic boom. After hitting a 13-month high of 1.75% at the end of March, the 10-year Treasury yield has declined—to 1.57% on June 16, after the Fed concluded its previous meeting, and to 1.24%, a five-month low, when the Fed’s meeting began on Tuesday.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Most of the focus is likely to center on Chairman Jerome Powell’s news conference at 2:30 p.m. Here’s what to watch:\nTaper timing\nOfficials are likely to receive a formal staff briefing around when to start paring their monthly purchases of $80 billion in Treasury securities and $40 billion in mortgage securities, and how quickly to reduce, or taper, them.\nThe Fed began buying large quantities of the securities in March 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic triggered a near-meltdown in financial markets. With the Fed’s short-term interest rate at zero, the purchases are designed to provide additional stimulus by holding down long-term interest rates.\nSome officials are concerned that a burst of inflation this year from bottlenecks associated with reopening the economy will prove more durable than previously anticipated. These policy makers are eager to start the taper, in part because they and their colleagues have said they aren’t likely to consider raising interest rates from near zero until they are done tapering the asset purchases.\nAnother camp thinks recent price pressures will subside and could leave the Fed in the same position that it faced for much of the past decade, in which global forces kept inflation below 2% even with historically low interest rates. They are worried that accelerating plans to wind down the asset purchases could raise questions among investors about the Fed’s commitment to achieving its economic goals.\nBecause Mr. In April, he said the Fed was “a long way from” its tapering goals, and he characterized the economy as “still a ways off” from them in June.\nPurchase pace\nOfficials also must consider the pace of any reductions. Some officials have discussed concluding the purchases around October 2022 so they could lift rates soon thereafter if the recovery is stronger or inflation is higher than now anticipated.\nDuring a prior asset-purchase program that ended in 2014, the Fed shrank its purchases in modest, equal amounts over the course of 10 months. It then waited another 14 months before raising interest rates.\nAnother tactical question centers on whether to reduce the pace of Treasurys and mortgage-backed securities equally. Some officials have raised concerns about rising home prices and are pressing to stop purchases of mortgage bonds sooner.\nBut Mr. Powell and other officials have poured cold water on those concerns in recent weeks. They have said mortgage buying, by purchasing longer-dated assets, provides a way to more broadly stimulate the economy and isn’t focused squarely on housing markets.\n“If the housing market has you really worried, that’s an argument for just tapering everything sooner and faster,” said William English, a former senior Fed economist who is now a professor at the Yale School of Management.\nInflation outlook\nFor a third straight month in June, inflation ran hotter than many economists had expected. The Labor Department’s consumer-price index increased 5.4% from a year ago, the highest 12-month rate since August 2008.\nMr. Powell said two weeks ago that many of the elevated price pressures can still be traced to goods and services affected by supply-chain bottlenecks and other pandemic-driven upheaval. As a result, he said it would be too soon for the Fed to abandon its earlier expectation that prices will return to their 2% target on their own and to raise rates to cool down demand and reduce inflation faster.\nBut Mr. Powell could face questions over how long the central bank and its 12-member rate-setting committee feels it would take to revisit their projections. Price pressures in some sectors of the economy where inflation had been subdued over the past year, including residential rents, have picked in recent months.\nDelta variant\nMr. Powell is also likely to be pressed on how the recent increase in Covid-19 cases among unvaccinated populations could reshape the central bank’s growth forecasts for the rest of the year. While a return to shutdowns and other state-mandated restrictions on activity seem less likely than a year ago, increased hesitancy on the part of consumers to return to normal spending routines could complicate the economic outlook.\nSince Fed officials last met in June, government-bond prices have jumped, a sign that investors are less confident about long-term growth prospects and less worried about inflation.\nYields, which rise when bond prices fall, climbed sharply earlier in the year, lifted by expectations that vaccinations and fiscal stimulus would spur an economic boom. After hitting a 13-month high of 1.75% at the end of March, the 10-year Treasury yield has declined—to 1.57% on June 16, after the Fed concluded its previous meeting, and to 1.24%, a five-month low, when the Fed’s meeting began on Tuesday.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":621,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":175419569,"gmtCreate":1627046098251,"gmtModify":1703483169022,"author":{"id":"4087771638391430","authorId":"4087771638391430","name":"Tanwl1","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1763b1975bb18dbb1e545a65e8596923","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4087771638391430","idStr":"4087771638391430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like n comment ","listText":"Like n comment ","text":"Like n comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/175419569","repostId":"1193325824","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":788,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":142006979,"gmtCreate":1626101869191,"gmtModify":1703753501065,"author":{"id":"4087771638391430","authorId":"4087771638391430","name":"Tanwl1","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1763b1975bb18dbb1e545a65e8596923","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4087771638391430","idStr":"4087771638391430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like n comment","listText":"Like n comment","text":"Like n comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/142006979","repostId":"1105917995","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105917995","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1626101031,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1105917995?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-12 22:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"State Auto shares surges 189%,as Liberty Mutual Insurance to acquire State Auto for $52 Per Share, or 200% Premium.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105917995","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"State Auto shares surges 189%,as Liberty Mutual Insurance to acquire State Auto for $52 Per Share, o","content":"
State Auto shares surges 189%,as Liberty Mutual Insurance to acquire State Auto for $52 Per Share, or 200% Premium.
\n
Liberty Mutual is preparing to acquire super-regional insurance holding company State Auto Group in a cash deal that values the company at roughly $2.30 billion, or $52 per share.
\n
The acquisition will significantly expand Liberty Mutual’s position in the personal lines and small commercial insurance space.
\n
Through the deal, Liberty Mutual will add $2.3 billion in premium and State Auto’s network of approximately 3,400 independent agencies across 33 states and is expected to become the second largest carrier in this key distribution channel.
\n
The transaction was approved by the State Auto Financial and State Auto Mutual board of directors and is expected to close in 2022.
\n
In connection with the merger of State Auto Financial, State Auto Mutual has entered into a voting agreement with Liberty Mutual under which it has agreed to vote its 58.8% interest in State Auto Financial in favor of the merger.
\n
“State Auto Group’s capabilities and product expertise are an ideal complement to Liberty Mutual’s domestic personal lines and small commercial business, and we welcome 2,000 talented associates to our family,” said Liberty Mutual Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Long.
\n
“Equally appealing are its values. That inquiry has almost concluded and its results will soon be announced, the company said on its official blog Thursday. Alibaba has meanwhile established a committee to police its workplace environment, comprised of senior female executives including Chief Financial Officer Maggie Wu and Chief People Officer Judy Tong, who was publicly censured Monday for the company’s mishandling of the incident.
\n
The employee’s allegations, which went viral on China’s tightly controlled internet, have reverberated across the upper echelons of Alibaba and in C-suites across much of the country. The accused Alibaba manager has been fired, two senior executives at the e-commerce giant have resigned and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Zhang has issued a remarkable mea culpa, calling the company’s handling of the incident a “humiliation.”
\n
In a nation that’s been slow to absorb lessons from the global #MeToo movement, the episode has triggered what many say is a long overdue examination of the ways Chinese women are too often treated at work: overlooked, objectified, forced to take part in male-dominated rituals like drinking with clients and brushed aside when reporting abuse. It comes at a time when much of China’s corporate world, particularly the tech industry, is under intense government scrutiny on issues ranging from anti-monopoly violations to the treatment of low-wage workers.
\n
“The best reflection is action,” Alibaba said in a blogpost. “It is our shared responsibility to create a mutually respectful workplace environment.”
\n
The newly formed committee will in turn steer an independent team responsible for investigating complaints and reports related to sexual harassment and assault. The company also vowed to revise its code of conduct and improve guidelines for employee engagement with customers and partners, to help employees draw clear boundaries between work and social interaction.
\n
The Alibaba incident has highlighted pervasive mistreatment of female workers across companies in China, where the #MeToo movement has failed to take off as widely as in Silicon Valley or elsewhere. That inquiry has almost concluded and its results will soon be announced, the company said on its official blog Thursday. Alibaba has meanwhile established a committee to police its workplace environment, comprised of senior female executives including Chief Financial Officer Maggie Wu and Chief People Officer Judy Tong, who was publicly censured Monday for the company’s mishandling of the incident.\nThe employee’s allegations, which went viral on China’s tightly controlled internet, have reverberated across the upper echelons of Alibaba and in C-suites across much of the country. The accused Alibaba manager has been fired, two senior executives at the e-commerce giant have resigned and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Zhang has issued a remarkable mea culpa, calling the company’s handling of the incident a “humiliation.”\nIn a nation that’s been slow to absorb lessons from the global #MeToo movement, the episode has triggered what many say is a long overdue examination of the ways Chinese women are too often treated at work: overlooked, objectified, forced to take part in male-dominated rituals like drinking with clients and brushed aside when reporting abuse. It comes at a time when much of China’s corporate world, particularly the tech industry, is under intense government scrutiny on issues ranging from anti-monopoly violations to the treatment of low-wage workers.\n“The best reflection is action,” Alibaba said in a blogpost. “It is our shared responsibility to create a mutually respectful workplace environment.”\nThe newly formed committee will in turn steer an independent team responsible for investigating complaints and reports related to sexual harassment and assault. The company also vowed to revise its code of conduct and improve guidelines for employee engagement with customers and partners, to help employees draw clear boundaries between work and social interaction.\nThe Alibaba incident has highlighted pervasive mistreatment of female workers across companies in China, where the #MeToo movement has failed to take off as widely as in Silicon Valley or elsewhere. Zhang, in a lengthy pre-dawn memo Monday, described an outpouring of emotions on Alibaba’s intranet and vowed to step up protections for women across the company while addressing its failure to act.\nAlibaba became the highest-profile symbol of abuses regarded as prevalent throughout Chinese businesses and at tech firms, rooted in a hard-charging environment that often prioritizes achievement over culture. The #MeToo movement first came to prominence there in 2018 when allegations against a professor at a Beijing university were published on social media. With last Friday’s solid jobs report coming in better than expected, in tandem with a country that is rapidly returning to work and normal, the economy is expected to surge the rest of the summer.
\n
e screened the Jefferies top growth stocks to buy this week for ideas that fit into this very positive narrative and found three that look like outstanding growth ideas for most investors. With the first two weeks of July historically the best of the year, it makes sense to add growth stocks now that have the best potential upside.
\n
It is important to remember though that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.
\n
Alphabet
\n
The search giant continues to expand and was the G in the FANG stocks before changing its name in 2015. Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) is a global technology company focused on key areas such as search, advertising, operating systems and platforms, and enterprise and hardware products. The company generates revenue primarily by delivering online advertising and by selling apps and content on Google Play, as well as hardware products. Alphabet provides its products and services in more than 100 languages and in 190 countries, regions and territories.
\n
Alphabet offers performance and brand advertising services. It operates through Google and Other Bets segments. The Google segment includes principal internet products, such as search, ads, commerce, Maps, YouTube, Apps, Cloud, Android, Chrome and Google Play, as well as technical infrastructure and newer efforts, such as virtual reality.
\n
Analysts point to Google Cloud, which is the largest cloud infrastructure play and engages in more technology, infrastructure research and development in headcount and dollars than any other company does. That gives it the strength and wherewithal to compete with and differentiate itself from Amazon’s AWS and Microsoft’s Azure.
\n
The Jefferies report noted this:
\n
\n We hosted an expert whose firm generates 60-70% of revenues from YouTube advertising. We highlighted that ad spend for the expert in the second quarter is up >130% year-over-year while the third quarter is shaping up to be much bigger than expected. We forecast YouTube ad revs up 64% in the second quarter, up from 49% in the first quarter. Further, we noted that ad budgets for 2021 have finally firmed up and we see a shift away from linear TV into digital channels as a big driver. Additionally, we pointed out that the high opt-out rates among iOS users has made the audience less attractive and the expert has seen budgets on FB ads shift to the majority being Android devices instead of iOS due to better targetability. We continue to view Alphabet as a top large-cap pick.\n
\n
The Jefferies price target for the stock is $2,850. The Wall Street consensus target is $2,750.07. The stock closed Friday trading at $2,505.15.
\n
Costco
\n
This has become the ultimate destination for the American consumer regardless of the economy, and it stands to have a massive summer selling season. Costco Wholesale Corp. (NASDAQ: COST) has a unique business model. It operates membership warehouses, and it buys the majority of its merchandise directly from manufacturers, essentially cutting out the middleman. Costco sells in bulk but also at a lower price, thus fueling its rapid growth. With consumers having more free cash to spend as gasoline prices have dropped, this major retailer may continue to see large revenue gains.
\n
Costco remains one of the few conventional retailers where metrics like store traffic, market share gains and a validated model could bode well for international growth and expansion. The company is largely unharmed by e-commerce, and it continues to add stores in strategically mapped out locations.
\n
Wall Street loves the company’s pricing authority on key items and the leading merchandising offerings, and the relatively new Costco co-branded card with Visa is a real positive. Add in the company’s growing online presence and the future looks bright. The analysts said this:
\n
\n We took a deeper look into our May 2021 club consumer survey at company and cohort-specific levels, as well as broader industry trends. Additionally, we recently spoke with the management teams of BJ’s Costco and Walmart. Our takeaways include: 1) the pandemic is driving higher engagement/spend across cohorts; 2) we view increasing gen merch/services as key to extending spending; 3) omni-channel efforts vary by retailer and the consumer is still deciding; and 4) more and bigger streamlining tech is coming.\n
\n
Costco shareholders receive a 0.80% dividend. Jefferies has a $445 price target, and the consensus target is $408.41. The shares closed on Friday at $398.94.
\n
This has long been a Wall Street favorite, and it continues to deliver solid results. PayPal Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: PYPL) operates as a technology platform company that enables digital and mobile payments on behalf of consumers and merchants worldwide.
\n
The company enables businesses of various sizes to accept payments from merchant websites, mobile devices and applications, as well as at offline retail locations through a range of payment solutions across its payments platform, including PayPal, PayPal Credit, Venmo and Braintree products.
\n
PayPal’s platform allows customers to pay and be paid, withdraw funds to their bank accounts and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in various currencies.
\n
Jefferies is very positive on the company:
\n
\n On August 2nd, pricing for PayPal Checkout, Pay With Venmo, Pay in 4, and PayPal Credit will increase to 3.49% + $0.49 for US small- to mid-sized businesses (SMB) merchants, up from 2.9% +$0.30 currently. We estimate 6-7% of total payment volume is US SMB branded volume and will be affected by the price increase. Meanwhile, volume-based pricing on “unbranded” volume will be lowered to 2.59% (from 2.90%) in a move we believe is aimed at Stripe. With last Friday’s solid jobs report coming in better than expected, in tandem with a country that is rapidly returning to work and normal, the economy is expected to surge the rest of the summer.\ne screened the Jefferies top growth stocks to buy this week for ideas that fit into this very positive narrative and found three that look like outstanding growth ideas for most investors. With the first two weeks of July historically the best of the year, it makes sense to add growth stocks now that have the best potential upside.\nIt is important to remember though that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.\nAlphabet\nThe search giant continues to expand and was the G in the FANG stocks before changing its name in 2015. Alphabet provides its products and services in more than 100 languages and in 190 countries, regions and territories.\nAlphabet offers performance and brand advertising services. It operates through Google and Other Bets segments. The Google segment includes principal internet products, such as search, ads, commerce, Maps, YouTube, Apps, Cloud, Android, Chrome and Google Play, as well as technical infrastructure and newer efforts, such as virtual reality.\nAnalysts point to Google Cloud, which is the largest cloud infrastructure play and engages in more technology, infrastructure research and development in headcount and dollars than any other company does. That gives it the strength and wherewithal to compete with and differentiate itself from Amazon’s AWS and Microsoft’s Azure.\nThe Jefferies report noted this:\n\n We hosted an expert whose firm generates 60-70% of revenues from YouTube advertising. We continue to view Alphabet as a top large-cap pick.\n\nThe Jefferies price target for the stock is $2,850. The Wall Street consensus target is $2,750.07. The stock closed Friday trading at $2,505.15.\nCostco\nThis has become the ultimate destination for the American consumer regardless of the economy, and it stands to have a massive summer selling season. With consumers having more free cash to spend as gasoline prices have dropped, this major retailer may continue to see large revenue gains.\nCostco remains one of the few conventional retailers where metrics like store traffic, market share gains and a validated model could bode well for international growth and expansion. The company is largely unharmed by e-commerce, and it continues to add stores in strategically mapped out locations.\nWall Street loves the company’s pricing authority on key items and the leading merchandising offerings, and the relatively new Costco co-branded card with Visa is a real positive. Add in the company’s growing online presence and the future looks bright. The analysts said this:\n\n We took a deeper look into our May 2021 club consumer survey at company and cohort-specific levels, as well as broader industry trends. Additionally, we recently spoke with the management teams of BJ’s Costco and Walmart. Our takeaways include: 1) the pandemic is driving higher engagement/spend across cohorts; 2) we view increasing gen merch/services as key to extending spending; 3) omni-channel efforts vary by retailer and the consumer is still deciding; and 4) more and bigger streamlining tech is coming.\n\nCostco shareholders receive a 0.80% dividend. Jefferies has a $445 price target, and the consensus target is $408.41. The shares closed on Friday at $398.94.\nThis has long been a Wall Street favorite, and it continues to deliver solid results. PayPal Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: PYPL) operates as a technology platform company that enables digital and mobile payments on behalf of consumers and merchants worldwide.\nThe company enables businesses of various sizes to accept payments from merchant websites, mobile devices and applications, as well as at offline retail locations through a range of payment solutions across its payments platform, including PayPal, PayPal Credit, Venmo and Braintree products.\nPayPal’s platform allows customers to pay and be paid, withdraw funds to their bank accounts and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in various currencies.\nJefferies is very positive on the company:\n\n On August 2nd, pricing for PayPal Checkout, Pay With Venmo, Pay in 4, and PayPal Credit will increase to 3.49% + $0.49 for US small- to mid-sized businesses (SMB) merchants, up from 2.9% +$0.30 currently. We estimate 6-7% of total payment volume is US SMB branded volume and will be affected by the price increase. Meanwhile, volume-based pricing on “unbranded” volume will be lowered to 2.59% (from 2.90%) in a move we believe is aimed at Stripe. We believe the impact is baked into the fiscal year 2021 guide, but estimate the price hikes adding ~3% of top-line growth in fiscal year 2022 and 2023. As a result, we took our estimates through 2023 slightly higher, but assume management reinvests a portion of the pricing tailwind back into the business.\n\nThe $340 Jefferies price target compares with the $314.04 consensus target and Friday’s closing share price of $290.24.\nThese three companies are dominant in their respective business silos and poised not only to post solid second-quarter results, but each has very promising runaways for the rest of 2021 and beyond.
