If your favorite stock plummets along with other stocks, you will quickly seize the opportunity to buy more on the dip.</p><p>After the 1987 stock market crash, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 508 points in a single day. Investment experts unanimously predicted that the stock market would collapse, but it turned out that despite the Dow Jones Industrial Average's plunge of 1,000 points (a 33% drop from its August peak), the stock market did not end as people had expected. Alan Greenspan is the head of the Federal Reserve. He can't predict interest rates. He can rate hike or cut interest rates, but he can't tell you what interest rates will be in 12 months or two years.
