- U.S. semiconductor stocks fell on Tuesday after chip equipment maker ASML cut its annual sales forecast over weak non-AI chip demand while a report said the Biden administration was considering capping sales of advanced artificial intelligence processors to some countries.AI chip giant Nvidia, which had briefly surpassed Apple as the world's most valuable company the previous day, dropped 4.7%, wiping out about $158 billion from its market cap, widening the gap with Apple's value of $3.56 trillion.Other chip firms, including AMD, Intel, Arm, Broadcom and Micron, fell between 3.2% and 5% at Tuesday's close, which dragged the Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index down nearly 5% and weighed on the Nasdaq index.U.S.-listed shares of ASML closed 16% down after the Dutch company published results ahead of schedule in an apparent error, reporting weak bookings, lowering forecast, and indicating slower chip demand recovery outside the AI sector.Despite the surge in demand for AI-related The interest rate expectations have inched back to where they were prior to the 02 Aug jobs report, which caused intense recession fears and inspired some calls for the Fed to immediately lower rates in a rare emergency move; the odds of a 25 basis-point cut on 01 Aug was 78% compared to 22% for a 50 basis-point cut. So we could expect Fed Chair to comment that they are getting more confident that inflation is moving towards their target, and that they can afford to loosen the degree of monetary restrictiveness.","listText":"This week, we will be expecting a big event which is Fed Chair Powell ’s speech at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium at 10 a.m.(ET) on Friday (23 August). So we could expect Fed Chair to comment that they are getting more confident that inflation is moving towards their target, and that they can afford to loosen the degree of monetary restrictiveness.","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/88ac57b5ce537606340f59809c0347b4","width":"1305","height":"767"},{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/e62c4ae29a3b479e92ee79f14c674b12","width":"990","height":"561"},{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/8915f562f10e728bd07c527d2a53294f","width":"1539","height":"729"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":2,"paper":2,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/340698172412072","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":7,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":973,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":325848418840744,"gmtCreate":1720577004466,"gmtModify":1720577045095,"author":{"id":"4089589195647730","authorId":"4089589195647730","name":"Eric09876542","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/66c18d50a19f0ca4aa29fab1d5d1e482","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089589195647730","idStr":"4089589195647730"},"themes":[],"title":"Tsla ","htmlText":"Tsla has gained back alot of loses but have they gained back the trust","listText":"Tsla has gained back alot of loses but have they gained back the trust","text":"Tsla has gained back alot of loses but have they gained back the trust","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":2,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/325848418840744","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1158,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":316337172549888,"gmtCreate":1718260465703,"gmtModify":1718260471629,"author":{"id":"4089589195647730","authorId":"4089589195647730","name":"Eric09876542","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/66c18d50a19f0ca4aa29fab1d5d1e482","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089589195647730","idStr":"4089589195647730"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/89bebb46da6299ad43f939dddc2f7f75","width":"972","height":"1571"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/316337172549888","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1314,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":242781067165792,"gmtCreate":1700309742861,"gmtModify":1700309748405,"author":{"id":"4089589195647730","authorId":"4089589195647730","name":"Eric09876542","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/66c18d50a19f0ca4aa29fab1d5d1e482","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089589195647730","idStr":"4089589195647730"},"themes":[],"title":"Overall stock market over bought, might have massive correct","htmlText":"Overall stock market over bought, might have massive correction during dec period","listText":"Overall stock market over bought, might have massive correction during dec period","text":"Overall stock market over bought, might have massive correction during dec period","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/0a76ce9579627603586a8eb88673604d","width":"200","height":"200"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":2,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/242781067165792","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2042,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":239175347220592,"gmtCreate":1699429735183,"gmtModify":1699429741426,"author":{"id":"4089589195647730","authorId":"4089589195647730","name":"Eric09876542","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/66c18d50a19f0ca4aa29fab1d5d1e482","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089589195647730","idStr":"4089589195647730"},"themes":[],"title":"8 Nov thoughts","htmlText":"After 1 year of bad trades and investing in board market index + top 7 stocks, I have learn that the top 7 stocks in NasdQ have always out perform board market and sometimes are actually pulling the whole market up. But that may not necessarily be the case in a year like 2021.
\n
Since 1928, the average September return for the S&P 500 has been a 0.99% loss. That makes the month far worse than May, which ranks second in investor gloom with an average loss of 0.11%. But there’s a caveat here. History also finds that Septembers that follow strong gains earlier in the year tended to have positive returns. When the S&P 500 rose by more than 13% over the first six months, the median September gain since 1928 rang in at 1.4%, according to Fundstrat.
\n
Over that 93-year span, the S&P fell in 54% of the Septembers. But when markets rose from January through June, 63% of the Septembers saw positive gains. Through June of this year, the S&P 500 rallied 14%.
\n
A similar trend applies to the year. Strategists atWells Fargo recently lifted their target for the S&P 500 to a level that reflects more than 6% upside from current prices. Using data back to 1990, they say that in years in which the S&P sees double-digit percentage gains for the first eight months, it rises another 8% to finish the year.
\n
The S&P 500 closed on Thursday at 4523, ending August with a year-to-date gain of 20.4%. But be aware of one thing: The ride could be bumpy. The S&P 500 hasn’t had a pullback of more than 5% this year. With risks on the horizon—the Delta variant, inflation, high valuations, even a corporate-tax increase—stocks could easily correct. “Markets are ‘overbought’ and due for a pullback,” writes Fundstrat research head Tom Lee.
