Tiger Newspress14:38

Tencent Holdings plans to launch an embedded AI agent for WeChat, Financial Times reported, citing people with the knowledge of the matter.

The company is testing a prototype AI agent that can assist users in completing tasks within mini programs, with plans to initiate the compliance review process required before public release as early as this month.

Spurred by the news, TENCENT's share price extended gains. It last stood at HKD479.6, up 10%.

TENCENT reportedly plans to first test the AI agent among a small group of external users before rolling it out in phases. As the time required for the compliance review process remains uncertain, the official launch date has yet to be determined.

TENCENT reportedly listed this AI feature as a top strategic development priority. Senior management is striving for perfection in all aspects of the AI agent, which could lead to prolonged testing and multiple rounds of revisions before the final release.
