Duan Yongping: Long-Term Holding Of S&P, Nasdaq Beats Most

Duan Yongping, a renowned value investor, said that a long-term allocation strategy of holding the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices will likely outperform most investors.
The comment came in response to a self-described novice investor who asked whether his approach—investing 300,000 yuan in the S&P 500 and 700,000 yuan in the Nasdaq two years ago, with a plan to hold indefinitely—aligns with value investing principles and whether he should add individual stocks.
Duan replied, "If held long enough, this allocation will likely be better than most people's." He did not recommend adding individual stocks.
Duan, known for his early investments in companies like NetEase and Apple, is widely followed by retail investors.
