Chip, storage shares jumped in overnight trading. SOXL up over 3%; Western Digital up 2%; Applied Materials, Micron, SanDisk, TSMC up over 1%.
CarMax Inc. stock rose about 3.5% in overnight trading. Starboard Value LP has amassed a stake of about $350 million in CarMax Inc. and sees an opportunity to accelerate the used car retailer’s turnaround under incoming Chief Executive Officer Keith Barr, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
Precious metal shares and ETFs gained in overnight trading. Sibanye, Harmony Gold up nearly 3%; FSM, AU up over 2%.
