Nvidia shares were down over 3% in recent Monday trading after the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that China's Huawei Technologies is preparing to test its latest AI processor that it hopes could replace certain higher-end products of Nvidia.
Huawei has reached out to some Chinese technology firms on testing the technical feasibility of the new Ascend 910D chip, the report said, citing unnamed sources.
The company hopes that the new processors will be more powerful than Nvidia's H100, the Journal reported, citing one of the sources.
Nvidia and Huawei did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
