Updates

** Shares of U.S. grocery retailers fall in early trading after Amazon.com AMZN.O expands same-day grocery delivery to perishable foods

** Amazon Prime subscribers can now receive strawberries, milk, meats and frozen dinners on the same day

** Retail giant Walmart WMT.N down about 1%, delivery firm Instacart CART.O falls about 12% and U.S. grocer Kroger KR.N dips about 4%

** Shoppers in more than 1,000 U.S. cities - including Phoenix; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Tampa, Florida - can get ice cream delivered to their doors within hours, while Amazon plans to expand the service to 2,300 cities by the end of the year

** Same-day delivery is free for Prime members, who pay $14.99 monthly or $149 annually, for orders over $25

** While Amazon has long struggled to grow its share of digital grocery sales, the broad rollout of this program could have a significant impact - Blake Droesch, analyst with eMarketer
