Toyota Motor (TYO:7203) rolled out a partly redesigned bZ4X electric vehicle in Japan on Thursday, extending its range by about 25% to 746 kilometers, the longest among Japanese-brand EVs, Nikkei reported Friday.
The new model starts at 4.8 million yen, around 700,000 yen less than the previous version, making it competitive with hybrid SUVs when government subsidies are applied, according to the report.
Range improvements stem from a larger battery and more efficient e-axle, while battery prewarming allows full charging in 28 minutes at minus 10 C. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h improved to 5.1 seconds, and four levels of regenerative braking offer adjustable deceleration, the report said.
