BUZZ-US gold miners surge as bullion breaks $4,600 record

** U.S.-listed shares of gold miners climb in premarket trade as the precious metal breaches $4,600 an ounce for the first time

** Spot gold XAU= jumps 1.9% to $4,956.32 per ounce; bullion hit a record high of $4,600.33 earlier in the day GOL/

** Investors snapped up safe-haven assets amid heightened geopolitical uncertainties and a criminal probe into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell

** Top miners Newmont NEM.N up 2.7% while Barrick Mining B.N climbs 2.8%

** Agnico Eagle Mining AEM.N, Kinross Gold KGC.N and Anglogold Ashanti AU.N jump between 2.5% and 4.7%

** Spot silver XAG= also hits record high at $84.60 per ounce
