Seasonally adjusted job vacancies in Australia fell 0.2% to 326,700 in the three months to November 2025, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday.
Private-sector vacancies decreased 0.5% to 287,400, while public-sector vacancies rose 1.8% to 39,300.
"There were 326,700 job vacancies in November 2025, around the same as there were at the beginning of the year, in February 2025," said Robert Long, the Bureau's Head of Labor Statistics.
Of the 18 industries in Australia, seven saw a decrease in job vacancies in the three months to November 2025. The biggest declines were in education and training, and in rental, hiring, and real estate services, whereas the largest increases occurred in other services and wholesale trade.
Job vacancies fell in five of the eight states and territories in the quarter to November 2025, with the Northern Territory recording the largest decrease, followed by South Australia. In contrast, Victoria experienced the biggest rise, followed by Western Australia.
Job vacancies over the year to November 2025 fell by 17,800, a decrease of 5.2%, with private sector vacancies down 6.8% while public sector vacancies increased by 8.9%, Long added.
