Frontier Energy (ASX:FHE) said the high energy prices in Western Australia supported not only the development of stage one of its Waroona renewable energy project, which is progressing through financing, as well as its decision to accelerate a study for a stage two expansion, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The average price on Western Australia's wholesale energy market during 2025 reached a record high of AU$88 per megawatt-hour (MWh), 10% higher than in 2024. Prices during peak periods averaged AU$120 per MWh in 2025.
The firm's shares fell 4% in recent trading on Wednesday.
