Anthropic announced Tuesday that it has launched a new, highly capable model ahead of the artificial intelligence company's initial public offering.
Anthropic said in a blog post that it has released Claude Fable 5, a "Mythos-class" model, for general use. Anthropic added that it has launched Fable 5 with safeguards to ensure it can handle cybersecurity risks.
"Queries on some topics will instead receive a response from our next-most-capable model, Claude Opus 4.8," Anthropic said in the blog post.
Mythos is Anthropic's most capable model, which has not been made available to the public due to concerns that security firms may not be able to handle the threats it poses. A select number of companies have been given access to Claude Mythos Preview in a partnership called Project Glasswing.
Anthropic said on Tuesday that it is launching Claude Mythos 5 for a small group of "cyberdefenders and infrastructure providers." It is the same underlying model for Fable 5, but some of the safeguards have been lifted.
Mythos 5 will initially be deployed through Project Glasswing, in collaboration with the U.S. Government, as an upgrade to Claude Mythos Preview.
Tuesday's announcements come after Anthropic said on June 1 that it had confidentially submitted a draft S-1 to the SEC. Anthropic also recently announced a new Series H funding round in which it raised $65 billion, valuing the company at $965 billion post-money.
