President Donald Trump posted on social media platform X on August 29 that CNN and MSNBC are in a "death spiral" with no one watching, and praised CNN pollster Harry Enten for showing Trump's popularity is six times that of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or any other president.
In the post, Trump referred to MSNBC as "MSNOW" and "MSDNC," accusing both networks of extremely low viewership. He wrote: "CNN is in a DEATH SPIRAL, and so is MSNOW, the new name for MSDNC — Literally, nobody is watching either Network!"
Trump singled out pollster Harry Enten as the best person on CNN, saying Enten "was willing to show that Donald J. Trump is six times more popular than Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or any other President — He’s got Credibility (Don’t fire him!)." Trump suggested CNN could be turned around with new leadership and anchors, but claimed MSNBC cannot, adding "a Great Brand can never truly be destroyed!"
The remarks continue Trump's long-standing criticism of mainstream media, though he provided no specific viewership data to support his claims.
