President Donald Trump announced on social media on August 30 that, at the request of the PGA Tour and its new Commissioner Brian Rolapp, he has accepted the role of Honorary Chairman for the upcoming Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club in Chicago.
"This will be a particularly exciting event. Both teams are 'loaded' with Talent," Trump wrote. "I look forward to being there, and greeting all of these fantastic athletes, on both teams! Thank you for your attention to this matter. See you in Chicago!" The Presidents Cup is a biennial team golf competition between the United States and an international team.
Trump has a history of involvement in golf, including hosting tournaments during his presidency. The appointment comes as the PGA Tour undergoes leadership changes, with Rolapp having taken over as Commissioner in 2024.
