President Donald Trump announced on September 1 that he has approved $3.4 million in federal funding for the state of South Dakota to address severe storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding, and an additional $1.7 million for the Oglala Sioux Tribe for similar severe weather events.
"I just spoke with Governor Larry Rhoden, of the Great State of South Dakota, and informed him that I am approving 3.4 Million Dollars for severe storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding. I am also granting 1.7 Million Dollars to the Oglala Sioux Tribe for severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding — I have asked the Governor to so inform the Tribe," Trump wrote on X.
Trump further stated: "South Dakota is a special place, which I won by Historic Margins, three times, and I will always deliver BIG for them!" The funding aims to support recovery efforts from recent extreme weather events in the region.
