President Donald Trump announced on September 1 that he is sending $50.5 million in federal funds to Texas to support recovery efforts from severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that recently hit the state.
In a post on social media platform X, Trump wrote: "I just informed Governor Greg Abbott, of the GREAT State of Texas (who has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election!), that I am sending 50.5 Million Dollars to assist recovery efforts from the severe storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding that hit them hard."
Trump said Texas is a special place and that he will soon return to support Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton for U.S. Senate, and the entire ticket of Republican candidates, whom he has given his "Complete and Total Endorsement."
The White House has not yet released a detailed timeline for the disbursement, but the statement indicated the funds will go directly to disaster relief and response efforts.
