President Donald Trump on September 1 posted on social media platform X, officially endorsing Mayes Middleton to be the next Attorney General of Texas. Trump described Middleton as a "7th Generation Texan, dedicated Rancher, highly respected State Senator, and very successful President of Middleton Oil Company," praising his career "loaded up with accolades and wins."
Trump wrote: "It is my Great Honor to endorse 'MAGA' Mayes Middleton, who is running to be the next Attorney General of the Wonderful State of Texas, a place I love and WON BIG three times, including with 6.4 Million Votes in 2024 (The most Votes in History, BY FAR)!" He also mentioned Middleton's wife Martha Ann and four children, outlining his commitments: "Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Champion our Brave Law Enforcement and First Responders, Support our Incredible Military/Veterans, Safeguard our Elections, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Uphold our Constitution, Keep Men out of Women's Sports, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment."
