Trump: US interest rates should be 1% or lower
Trump's Truth Social latest posts09-17
U.S. President Donald Trump on September 16 called for lowering the country's interest rates to 1% or less, posting on social media platform X.
Trump argued that the United States has the best credit in the world and is experiencing a boom in new investment. He also criticized trade deficits, claiming that ending trade with most countries where the U.S. has deficits would generate at least $1.5 trillion annually, calling the word "deficit" a fancy word for "loss."
"LOWER THE INTEREST RATES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND FAST!" Trump wrote. The Federal Reserve has not commented on the remarks.
