South Korea has identified 107 cases of industrial technology data being leaked within the past five years, with semiconductor technologies making up 40 of such instances, Yonhap News Agency reported Sunday, citing data from the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
Other leaks include 21 for display technologies, 10 for electrical and electronics technologies, seven for automotive technologies and six for shipbuilding technologies, the report cited NIS data forwarded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources to the National Assembly.
Core technologies, which are seen as critical to national security and the economy, accounted for 31 cases, the report cited the data as saying.
One case was about an alleged leak of Samsung Electronics' (KRX:005930) 18-nanometer DRAM manufacturing technology, a core technology, by an ex-manager to China-based ChangXin Memory Technologies (SHA:688825), the report said.
