Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TPE:2330) has received approval from Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs to invest a cumulative $44 billion in the US since December 2020, Focus Taiwan reported Saturday, citing data compiled by the ministry's Department of Investment Review.
TSMC secured its first approval in December 2020 to form a subsidiary in Arizona with a capital of $30 million. The company subsequently received approval for a $3.47 billion investment the same month, the report said.
In 2023, the chip manufacturer obtained approval for a $3.5 billion investment in March 2023, $4.5 billion in September 2023, $5.0 billion in June 2024, $7.5 billion in September 2024, and $20 billion in July, the report said.
