Huadong Medicine (SHE:000963) said the third phase trial of HDM1002 for weight management showed "positive topline" results.
At Week 52, the 200-milligram and 400-milligram doses achieved mean weight reductions of 10.7% and 12.2%, versus 1.2% for placebo, according to a Monday filing with the Shenzhen bourse.
The drug also reduced liver fat, improved liver enzymes and optimized body composition.
Shares of the drugmaker were up 3% in recent trade.
