MKS, which has a market capitalization of about $10 billion, will fund the acquisition through cash and debt financing.</p>\n<p>The offer represents a premium of about 10% to Atotech’s closing price on June 10, when Reuters reported MKS had approached Atotech with an acquisition offer.</p>\n<p>The deal comes at a time the chip industry has been dealing with a global shortage of semiconductors that has shuttered some auto production lines and its impact has been felt in other areas, including consumer electronics.</p>\n<p>Atotech, backed by buyout firm Carlyle Group Inc, made its U.S. public market debut in February at $17 per share. growth could exceed the upper end of the official 4%-6% forecast range this year.</p>\n<p>Sentiment was further supported by government data</p>\n<p>showing a recent fall in daily coronavirus cases and local media reports of a ramp up in the vaccination process, said Mitul Kotecha, chief EM Asia and Europe strategist at TD Securities.</p>\n<p>\"The picture is getting constructive with respect to the virus in Singapore,\" said Kotecha.</p>\n<p>The situation in Singapore helped its equities outperform largely tepid stock markets across the rest of Southeast Asia, as the region continues to face a burgeoning coronavirus crisis.</p>\n<p>Philippine stocks declined 0.3%, a day after the nation extended curbs on movement and businesses in the capital Manila and nearby provinces until mid-July and
