[Events] New Year Investment Clean-Up 🧹 Share Your "Investment Reset" Plan

In Lunar New Year traditions, there is a custom called "Sweeping Away Poverty," where people wake up early to clean their homes, sweeping away all the accumulated trash from the past few days.

As we step into the new year, it’s also a time to leave the past behind. Life is a journey of experiencing, reflecting, and growing. No matter how many mistakes we made last year, as long as we learn from them and avoid repeating them, those lessons were worth it.

The stock market in 2024 and 2025 has also undergone significant shifts, especially with the inauguration of Trump in January. While AI and cryptocurrency remain key investment themes, selecting the right stocks has become even more critical in this overvalued market.

💡Join Our Discussion!

1. Clearing the Trash: Share the Pitfalls You Encountered in 2024 and Which Assets You’re Avoiding.

For instance, I faced significant losses in 2024 by investing in SOXL, so in 2025, I’m avoiding leveraged semiconductor ETFs. Even as Nvidia hit new highs, SOXL lingered around $30. This year, I’ll focus on leading AI and crypto stocks like Nvidia and Coinbase.

2. Welcoming the New: Share Your Investment Plan for 2025!

For example, my 2025 plan prioritizes large-cap ETFs, allocating 60% to them.

I’ll also track market trends like the "Trump Trade," explore rocket stocks, and AI application stocks like SaaS, dedicating 20% of my portfolio to these opportunities.

Share your lessons and strategies for 2025! Let’s grow together.

🌟🌟🌟As we welcome the Lunar New Year of The Snake, it is a great time to review how the previous year fared and my investment plan for 2025.

One of my biggest regrets is not investing in $iShares Bitcoin Trust(IBIT)$ .  In 2024, IBIT became the fastest ETF to reach USD 10 Billion in Assets Under Management, just 50 days after its launch and to reach USD 50 billion in December 2024.

IBIT seeks to track the spot price of Bitcoin which has just reached USD 104,000.

With Donald Trump in power, I believe that Bitcoin will take off like a Space X Rocket to the moon as he is the most pro crypto US President in modern times.

IBIT is up 7.8% since the start of January and in 2024, it has skyrocketed by 145%.

Wall Street Analysts are bullish on IBIT with a Buy rating, Target price of between USD 63.73 and USD 83.49.

I prefer to buy IBIT rather than hold Bitcoin per se as it provides me with accessibility to Bitcoin without the complexities of acquiring, holding and trading directly through a digital asset platform.  IBIT is backed by Bitcoin held in cold storage, making it more resistant to hacking.

My investment plan for 2025 is to continue to dollar cost average my Index ETFs such as $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF(SPLG)$  and $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$  I will also add $iShares Bitcoin Trust(IBIT)$   as part of having a diversified portfolio.

May All My Dear Tiger Friends Be Blessed With Abundance in Good Health, Happiness and Prosperity this Lunar New Year.

Not every Taiwan Semicon stock is doing good. Beside $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ TSMC I also invest in $United Microelectronics(UMC)$UMC but she is not doing well. I shall be carefully in choosing tech stock.
Nevertheless luckily TSMC still give me 10x great profit to cover the losses for UMC . For UMC I buy only a small portion @TigerEvents @HelenJanet @MHh @koolgal @SR050321

I am avoiding $Nike(NKE)$ totally a let down from its products in recent years and it reflects on its stock price. Gone were the days where Nike sneakers and gear are coveted and collected. The sneakers trend have faded and there are a lot of other brands that are more innovative than Nike.

maybe I shall trim my healthcare stocks when it's rebounds and add more financials. for tech stocks which is 50% of portfolio, more than 50% is big tech (amzn, msft, nvda, goog and meta). the rest of tech buy other sectors like semi con, software n cyber security. all set for 2025!

Last year I was “all in” into DBS. It was a successful decision. This year I will still be heavily invested in DBS.

Another theme was trading in US . It was a year where I learnt more about my greed and impatience.

Everyone is looking for AI and crypto related stocks.
I believe there maybe some truth in it though my take would be to focus on long term investment. $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ might be hard hit given that Deepseek uses less of a fraction compare to OpenAI, long term wise its always are surely support more than "quantum computing" power.
Never rush in to buy but to observe and listen to what make sense before the final "clicks".
Happy Chinese New Year, May every tigers have a healthy and prosperous years ago, embrace headwind, caution on tailwind.

to buy into undervalued shares that is interest rate sensitive and take advantage of the already lower interest rate over the past few months.

examples will be properties counters and us office REITs.

China might be posied for a rally so some funds will be allocated to standby for china rally

I did not enter into cryptocurrency because it is not something I’m familiar with or can stomach the risk with it. It has soared with trump but moving forward in 2025, I still prefer to stick to stocks that I’m familiar with and ETFs have remained a safe bet. In terms of returns, a bit slow but definitely steady!

I am regret to keep buying the dip and try to recover the loss, but in the end, the hole is getting deeper and deeper [Facepalm] [Spurting] My 2025 plan was to cut off this stock and focus on more stable and dividend payment stocks like $Coca-Cola(KO)$ $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$

    1. Clearing the Trash: Lessons from 2024

I took a hit with SOXL, expecting to ride the semiconductor boom, but it lagged despite Nvidia's success. This year, I’m avoiding leveraged ETFs and focusing on more stable investments.

    2. Welcoming the New: My 2025 Strategy

    ✅ 60% in large-cap ETFs for stability
✅ 20% in AI & crypto stocks like Nvidia & Coinbase
✅ 10% in “Trump Trade” stocks (defense, energy, infrastructure)
✅ 10% in high-risk growth stocks (SaaS & AI apps)

2025 is about learning from past mistakes, adapting to market trends, and managing risks wisely. Instead of chasing hype, I’ll focus on long-term growth, diversification, and quality investments. Let’s make this a year of smarter decisions and greater success! 🚀
