To tell the truth, I have been holding Navitas Semiconductor for a long time, sitting on some big losses. It might be foolish of me, especially I am a champion of cutting loss and move on... at least I try to be one. But why Navitas, why HODL (hold on for dear life) 😰? That is because I believed Navitas semiconductor is the new semiconductor technology for the future. It manufactures gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) instead of the conventional silicon based wafers in semiconductors, creating chips that are more efficient than the conventional silicon based chips. This proven improved efficiency has been applied for Navitas in sectors such as power charging, EVs and data centres.
Nvidia is keen on this technology as it could mean handling higher voltage more efficiently. Handling AI, power consumption is high at the server end. Since GaN is more efficient and effective at higher voltages, it helps to reduce power losses during the conversion phase when the high voltage is coming to a data centre from the grid. Furthermore, with less energy loss from each conversion, it also means less cooling is required. So it's a double win here!
Why did I commit a new call position then given that I had pre-existing "dear life" exposure that had suddenly turned profitable? In the chart below, on the second candle (red), I noticed a strong resistance forming last Friday, given the power jet$NVIDIA(NVDA)$ has supplied, and more importantly a sudden viable options that came alive with its hyper increased volume, I deem that the crowd has just entered and will be around for a little push... so I have decided to take a punt... [Tongue] [Cool] [Chuckle] [Evil]
Having said that, I might take the money off the table if there's further short term push... so do your own assessment. It is definitely a good long term hold. Short term-wise, looks more like speculators have moved in quickly... so the risk is high.
