I feel relieved that I stuck to my trading plan and cut my losses when $UnitedHealth(UNH)$
The news that UnitedHealth tumbled 5% in premarket trading after offering disappointing profit guidance and missing EPS forecasts in Q2 is concerning. The reported Q2 EPS of $4.08 fell short of analysts' expectations of $4.45, which explains the sharp decline. It is disappointing to see such a miss in a company of this stature.
On the positive side, the quarterly revenue rose to $111.62 billion, slightly above the consensus forecast of $111.59 billion. While this small uptick is encouraging, it does not seem to offset the impact of the earnings miss. I find it hard to view these earnings as a strong performance given the context.
Given the current bull and positive market conditions, I believe there are many better and stronger stocks to consider. UnitedHealth's plunge to potentially $250 again does not entice me to jump back in. I am more inclined to explore other opportunities that show more stability and growth potential at this moment.
I will stay away from buying the dip on UNH for now. The stock's current trajectory does not inspire confidence, and I prefer to wait for clearer signs of recovery. Rushing into a position without a solid foundation could lead to further disappointment.
My strategy moving forward is to only consider a new position in UNH when the stock begins to show a technical trend reversal. I rely heavily on technical indicators to guide my decisions, and I need to see evidence of renewed strength before re-entering the market with this stock.
For the time being, I am content to observe from the sidelines and monitor how the situation develops. The market offers plenty of options, and I am focused on finding stocks that align with my risk tolerance and investment goals. UnitedHealth's current challenges make it less appealing compared to other candidates.
In conclusion, while the dip might tempt some investors, I am committed to patience and discipline. I will revisit UNH only when the technical outlook improves, ensuring that any future move aligns with a well-defined and favorable trend.
As a retail investor, I focus mainly on the US and Singapore markets, combining a mix of technical trading and long-term investing strategies.
