Why did dividend stocks beat tech over the past year

Came across a Dr Wealth article comparing dividend investors with tech focused portfolios over the past year. The argument is that “dividend uncles” quietly outperformed while tech investors chased narratives. The numbers make sense, but this feels very rate driven and cyclical. Dividend strategies are not automatically better just because they worked in one phase.
