AGL Energy (ASX:AGL) reported a statutory profit after tax of $756 million for the financial year ended June 30, up from $644 million in the prior-year period.

Underlying net profit after tax in line with guidance slipped 2% year over year to $631 million, while underlying EBITDA rose to $2.10 billion.

Total injury frequency rate was up to 2.2 per million hours worked from 2.0 in FY25.

The business maintained operating costs flat while delivering $30 million towards an intended $50 million net operational expenditure reduction programme targeted by FY27.

Management outlined a fiscal outlook that anticipates underlying EBITDA to land between $1.90 billion and $2.20 billion in the next period, while underlying net profit is expected to be between $470 and $670 million.

Following the announcement, the AGL Energy share price was up at $8.23.

The Australian utility provider operates across wholesale power markets, energy generation assets, and customer retail operations.
