$T-Mobile US(TMUS)$ When CPI prints run hot and rate fears flare, capital looks for shelter. That's why T-Mobile works as an institutional safety trade heading into its Oct 28 earnings.

The revenue base is inelastic. High inflation pushes consumers to cut discretionary spending, but almost nobody cancels their cell phone. More than 100M postpaid subscribers generate recurring monthly payments with sub-1% churn. It functions like an essential utility.

Cash generation is another layer. While speculative tech gets hit by multiple compression when rates stay high, T-Mobile generates roughly $16B in annual free cash flow. Top-line revenue turns into hard liquidity, insulated from macro credit squeezes.

Capital return is active too. With a strong cash balance, the company keeps retiring equity through a $33B+ buyback program while paying a $1.17 quarterly dividend.

When inflation shakes the tape, the defensive playbook is recurring cash flow, not sitting in cash.
