🐶 iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) – Investing in 2,000+ Small-Cap American Companies! 🇺🇸

When I invest in IWM, I am not betting on just one company. I am buying exposure to approximately 2,000 smaller publicly listed US companies through one ETF. This gives me diversification and an opportunity to participate in the growth of America’s small-cap businesses.

📊 What’s inside IWM?

IWM tracks the Russell 2000 Index, which represents small-cap companies in the US stock market. Unlike the S&P 500, which is dominated by mega-cap companies such as Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple and Amazon, IWM focuses on smaller businesses.

Its holdings cover many industries:

🏦 Financials: Regional banks, insurance companies and financial service providers.

🏥 Healthcare: Biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

🏭 Industrials: Manufacturers, engineering businesses and industrial suppliers.

💻 Technology: Smaller software, semiconductor and technology companies.

🛍️ Consumer: Retailers, restaurants, leisure and consumer-related businesses.

⚡ Energy: Smaller oil, gas and energy-related companies.

The interesting thing is that IWM gives me exposure to businesses that could become tomorrow’s larger corporations.

📌 Some interesting companies inside IWM

Some of its holdings include:

* IonQ – Quantum computing.

* Bloom Energy – Clean energy technology.

* Kratos Defense – Defence and aerospace.

* Twist Bioscience – Biotechnology.

* 10x Genomics – Life sciences technology.

These are examples of the types of smaller companies represented in the ETF. Holdings change over time. Schwab Wall Street +1

💡 Why am I interested in IWM now?

When interest rates eventually decline, smaller companies may benefit from lower borrowing costs because they often depend more heavily on financing to expand their businesses. A stronger US economy could also support their earnings and growth.

🎯 What’s my plan from here?

I prefer dollar-cost averaging into IWM rather than buying everything at once. I will monitor interest rates, inflation, economic growth and small-cap earnings. If the market corrects, I may consider adding more.

⚠️ What are the risks?

Small-cap companies can be more volatile, have weaker balance sheets and face greater challenges during economic slowdowns. IWM also has less exposure to mega-cap technology giants than QQQ.

🐶 My view: IWM can complement my S&P 500 and Nasdaq investments. Instead of concentrating everything in big technology companies, I can use IWM to diversify into America’s next generation of growing businesses.

Small companies today, potentially tomorrow’s big winners! 🚀
