AMD's data-centre growth and stronger guidance are encouraging, particularly as hyperscalers seek alternatives to Nvidia. However, strong revenue growth does not automatically translate into attractive investment returns when valuations are already elevated.
Arista's results are equally interesting because AI infrastructure spending extends beyond GPUs into networking, memory and power systems. Shopify's decline demonstrates how premium valuations can punish even modest earnings disappointments.
I would focus on AMD's gross margins, free cash flow, customer concentration and ability to sustain profitability as AI accelerator shipments expand.
Ultimately, I prefer buying fundamentally strong businesses at reasonable valuations rather than chasing short-term momentum. My diversified ETF holdings already provide exposure to the broader AI ecosystem.
