High rates for longer? I’d change what I call “defensive.” If interest rates stay elevated for longer, I wouldn’t simply move everything into cash and wait. I’d look for companies that can fund themselves, generate real cash flow and still grow without relying heavily on cheap debt. That changes the way I’d look at the market. Instead of chasing the highest-growth names, I’d pay more attention to: 💰 Strong free cash flow — businesses that can fund growth internally. 🏦 Healthy balance sheets — less exposure to refinancing risk if borrowing costs remain high. 📈 Pricing power — companies that can protect margins when costs stay elevated. 💵 Shareholder returns — buybacks or dividends become more interesting when capital has a higher opportunity cost. I’d also keep some dry powder. Higher rates
Higher for longer? Maybe waiting isn’t such a bad strategy anymore.
For years, investors had a strong incentive to stay fully invested because cash and short-term bonds offered very little return. That equation changes when interest rates stay elevated. If cash and short-duration assets can generate meaningful income, investors have something they didn’t have during the ultra-low-rate era: A real return for patience. That changes my approach. I wouldn’t necessarily sell everything and hide in cash. Instead, I’d think about creating a barbell: 🔹 Keep exposure to businesses with strong long-term growth potential. 🔹 Hold some short-duration assets that can generate income while waiting. 🔹 Keep cash available for periods when valuations become more attractive. The interesting part is that this gives investors more flexibility. If markets continue rising, you’r
Stocks and Treasuries Diverge: How to Position Ahead of a Market Turn?📈📉
The encouraging directional signal from cryptocurrencies during FOMC week did not last long. Although the Nasdaq reached a new all-time high, most risk assets did not confirm the move. Worse still, long-term bond yields also hit new highs, clearly conflicting with the fundamental reasoning behind our earlier expectations. Judging by the credibility of these breakouts, the bond market may prove the more reliable signal if there is no outside intervention. That means we need to be more cautious about the possibility that the turning point could arrive sooner than expected. $CME比特币主连 2610(BTCmain)$$BlackRock Multi-Sector Income Tr(BIT)$
Policy Shift Before the Midterms? 3 Ways to Position for Market Opportunities💰
Chinese leaders visited the United States last week. Even by the time the visit ended and the official readout was released, there were few concrete measures or signed agreements. Apart from the easing of trade tariffs that the market had widely anticipated, there was little of particular note. The lack of a major domestic publicity push around the visit’s outcomes is also telling. Clearly, Trump hopes to generate a series of positive developments ahead of the midterm elections to bolster his electoral prospects. In addition to the Chinese visit, there was news last week of U.S.–Iran talks, but that, too, amounted to more talk than action, with no tangible outcome yet. Any further impact on oil prices and inflation may therefore have to wait until after the midterms. For financial markets

Week That Was. If readers have gone through my post for last week cum last Friday, (click here !to read if you have not read it yet) , you would have recalled my moderately “bearish" outlook for stocks that week, citing bearish seasonality, mixed technicals, and uncertainty around the trajectory of oil prices and yields. US Market. Overall for week ending 25 Sep 2026, the 3 composite indexes were: DJIA : -0.21% (-108.14 to 51,828.62). S&P 500 : +0.66% (+50.58 to 7,743.41). Nasdaq: +1.29% (+345.52 to 27,068.72). The S&P 500 (market-cap weighted) Index and Nasdaq Composite were higher on the week, while the Dow turned out to be modestly lo
$QCOM & $ON - The Next Leg Up May Start With a Pullback
$Qualcomm(QCOM)$ and $ON Semiconductor(ON)$ are at different points in the same setup: Strong momentum → short-term pullback → higher low → next leg higher $QCOM is already up 40%+ since we posted the setup less than 60 days ago. Now price is approaching $200, where I expect some short-term rejection. That doesn't necessarily change the bigger trend. A pause around resistance could simply give the stock room to reset before another move higher. ⚡ Then there’s $ON. It’s up 17% since my last upgrade, but I’m expecting a pullback into next week. The key level to watch is the reaction after that pullback. 📈 If $ON forms a higher low, the next upside objective comes into focus: 🎯 $100 within the next 90 days Dif
10-Year at a 2007 High, VIX Under 15: Why I'm Selling Fewer Puts Right Now Most of my feed this week was about the 10-year, and fair enough. On Thursday the yield hit its highest level since June 2007, and the 30-year is now sitting near 5.49%, the highest since 2004. Then stocks went and closed the week green anyway. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both posted weekly gains, and the Dow snapped a three-week losing streak. I've been running a sell-put / Wheel strategy on US stocks for over five years. This is one of those weeks where the numbers are telling me to do less, not more. Here's how I'm reading it. Quick recap Sept 16: Fed hiked 25 bps in a 12-0 vote, to 3.75%-4.00%. First hike since 2023. The dot plot showed most officials expecting at least one more hike this year. Sept 23: hot S&
