The company is still private but it is set to combine with SPAC Altimeter Growth Corp (AGC) by the end of the year.</p>\n<p>So what is a super app? After three years users approximately double the transaction amount, and by year five they more than triple their transactions. The slide below shows the services offered in each of the markets served by Grab.</p>\n<p>While users come to the app initially for food deliveries and rides, we believe it will be the financial services that really bring profitable growth for the company. This gives the company an EV/EBITDA 2023 multiple of ~60x, which we find excessive given the uncertainty of the financial projections and the level of risk. We understand some investors are confident the company will achieve operating leverage and that it will continue growing for many years, but even then we believe the valuation to be too demanding given the level of uncertainty for future results.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05b52eab933ed612ab245e32a04c21a8\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: Grab Investor Presentation</span></p>\n<p><b>Risks</b></p>\n<p>The main risk we see with an investment in Grab is over paying for the shares. While the company's app is ubiquitous in South East Asia the current valuation already prices significant growth and profitability improvements. In other words, it is priced for perfection.</p>\n<p>There is also the matter of competition, where several well funded companies are going to fight for market share and erode profitability. These include Uber in some markets, but mainly&nbsp;Indonesia's GoTo,the company created through the merger of ride-sharing firm Gojek and e-commerce company Tokopedia.</p>\n<p>We find the company exciting and will continue to follow its progress, but at this time we are not buyers of the shares.</p>\n<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>\n<p>Grab is one of the most exciting companies right now that offers broad exposure to the economic growth in South East Asia. The&nbsp;company keeps&nbsp;growing and adding services to its app, while gaining users and getting closer to profitability.</p>\n<p>The one problem we have with an investment in the company is that at current prices much of the growth is already priced in. The company unveiled its electric F-150 Lightning truck last month and also told investors that it now expects electric vehicles to account for 40% of global sales by 2030.</p>\n<p>And GM (GM) is up more than 40% as well. The Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac maker said this month that it's looking to spend a whopping $35 billion on EVs by 2025.</p>\n<p>It seems investors are a bit infatuated with these legacy Big 3 automakers as they look to rapidly expand their electric car offerings to catch up with Tesla.</p>\n<p>Tesla is still growing incredibly quickly. Analysts expect earnings per share to more than double this year and increase at an average rate of about 45% annually over the next few years.</p>\n<p>Yet Tesla is one of the most polarizing stocks on Wall Street.</p>\n<p>According to Refinitiv, 14 analysts have the stock rated a \"buy,\" 13 a \"hold\" and 10 a \"sell.\" Contrast that with GM, which has 20 buy ratings, two holds and no sells.</p>\n<p><b>Skeptics have many questions about Tesla and Musk</b></p>\n<p>The consensus target price for Tesla stock from analysts is $652, about 6% lower than its current price.</p>\n<p>Tesla critics have a pile of worries to point to. A notable short seller who was featured in \"The Big Short\" is betting against the company. Concerns about Tesla's management bench sprung up after longtime executive Jerome Guillen abruptly left earlier this month — especially since CEO Elon Musk is also busy running SpaceX.</p>\n<p>And Musk's obsession with bitcoin and dogecoin, along with other extracurricular activities like hosting Saturday Night Live and constantly tweeting, might be a turnoff for some investors and analysts.</p>\n<p>Still, there is no denying that the company has plenty of ardent fans, and its vehicles have grabbed plenty of positive headlines this week alone.</p>\n<p>For example, Cars.com (CARS) announced earlier this week that Tesla's Model 3 was ranked first in its American-Made Index, which measures how much a vehicle contributes to the US economy based on factors such as domestic factory jobs, manufacturing plants and parts sourcing.</p>\n<p>The Model 3 edged out Ford's Mustang for the top spot, and Tesla's Model Y also ranked third on the list.
