I prefer building my income portfolio in layers instead of relying on one asset class. I'd combine quality REITs for regular income, dividend-paying blue-chip stocks for long-term growth, and Singapore T-bills or high-quality bonds for stability. Diversification makes the income stream more resilient.
One lesson I've learned is to always look beyond the headline yield. I pay close attention to dividend history, cash flow, debt levels, and whether payouts are sustainable. My goal is to build a portfolio that can reliably help cover my expenses over the long term.
