1️⃣ Why am I making this trade now?
My portfolio has been heavily tilted toward high-beta tech, and with broader market volatility, I needed to inject real defensive ballast. I chose Rollins ($ROL) specifically as a classic non-discretionary consumer play. Pest control isn't an optional expense—termites and rodents don't wait for macroeconomic recovery, giving Rollins predictable recurring cash flow and pricing power regardless of market cycles. Catching this recent pullback gives me an entry into a resilient business to balance my overall volatility.
2️⃣ What’s my plan from here?
The Strategy: Pure dollar-cost averaging (DCA). I opened the initial starter position and will continue accumulating in tranches across pullbacks rather than trying to time a perfect bottom.
What I'm watching: Organic revenue growth, renewal rates on residential and commercial contracts, and operating margins to ensure inflation isn't eroding their pricing power.
When I'd reassess: I plan to hold long term, but I would rethink the thesis if we see consistent contract cancellations, loss of market share to regional competitors, or reckless debt-fueled acquisitions that weaken their balance sheet.
