9/29 Strategy Outlook: AI Trade Cools, Capital Begins to Diverge

① What's Happening Today

AI compute trade is cooling.

The semiconductor index fell 1.7%, down as much as 3.6% intraday. CPU-related names like AMD, Intel, and ARM weakened. The core reason: the market is revising down expectations for CPU compute demand driven by Meta's Muse — the "buy up all the world's CPUs" trade logic is cooling.

Meta falls 5%, AI application expectations begin to reprice.

The market is waiting for OpenAI's developer conference on one hand, while starting to question the actual pace at which AI Agents will change consumer and business models. Meta has already rallied significantly in the short term, and its valuation has entered a higher range.

Optical communications pull back in sync.

CRDO fell 8.7%, with COHR, ALAB, and CIEN weakening. The market is reassessing optical communications demand and supply constraints, as well as the incremental space from new products.

Macro pressure rises.

10-year Treasury yields rose to 5.25%, the highest since 2007; 2-year yields rose to 4.93%. The high-rate environment is pressuring high-valuation tech stocks.

Today's biggest event: OpenAI Developer Conference.

The market is watching for over 20 product launches. AI Agents, product commercialization, and supply chain beneficiaries may be repriced.

② What Money Is Betting On / Defending Against

🟠 Buy Side: Chasing Energy, Banks, and China Internet, While Retaining Both Upside and Downside Index Protection

  • CVX | 11/20 220 Call $CVX 20261120 220.0 CALL$ — 12,500 contracts | $5.2958 million | Current price 207.94
→ Buyers are betting on energy stocks continuing higher with a ~5.8% OTM Call. Compared to the earlier Sell Call structure, the capital stance has shifted.

  • KRE | 10/16 72, 73 Call$KRE 20261016 72.0 CALL$  — 30,000 contracts combined | $2.79 million | Current price ~71
→ Near-month direct Call buying indicates regional bank short-term capital is starting to bet on a breakout, but concentrated on 10/16 — first watch whether it can hold above 72–73 in the short term.

  • QQQ | 11/20 765 Call — 7,500 contracts | $8.6475 million | Current price 736.53
→ A large far-month Call continues to bet on index upside. Simultaneously buying the 10/23 720 Put indicates this isn't pure trend-chasing, but "bullish + buying protection."

  • KWEB | 12/18 24 Call $KWEB 20261218 24.0 CALL$ — 113,000 contracts | $21.47 million | Current price ~24.8
→ Today's largest directional buy order, betting on the China internet sector rising over the next ~3 months.

🟢 Sell Side: Capping Tech Stocks That Have Risen Sharply Recently, and Collecting Premium Below Lower-Priced Assets

  • AMD | 11/20 750 Call $AMD 20261120 750.0 CALL$ — 3,199 contracts | $4.5106 million | Current price 607.30
→ After a 12.7% weekly gain, selling Calls at +23.5% OTM — the core intent is to limit upside-chasing space, with 750 becoming a key medium-term resistance level.

  • META | 10/23 760 Call $META 20261023 760.0 CALL$ — 1,582 contracts | $2.3967 million | Current price 722.51
→ After META's pullback, Calls are still being sold above 760. In the short term, first watch whether 760 can be reclaimed.

  • INTC | 10/16 130 Call $INTC 20261016 130.0 CALL$ — 52,000 contracts | $11.96 million | Current price ~123
→ 130 becomes the first near-month resistance level; whether it can break above 130 before 10/16 is the most direct observation point for this block trade.

  • SHOP | 11/20 105 Put $SHOP 20261120 105.0 PUT$ — 11,500 contracts | $2.1068 million | Current price 138.60
→ Selling Puts sets 105 as a medium-term floor. Capital is willing to take assignment at a lower price, but it also means 105 is an important subsequent defense level.

③ Where to Watch the Relevant Tickers

QQQ: Watch the 736–765 range.
736 is near the current price. The 765 Call represents the far-end upside target; the 720 Put provides medium-term downside protection. If AI tech stocks continue pulling back today, first watch support near 720; if the market re-trades AI positives, watch whether it can move back toward 765.

META: Watch 760.
Fundamentals are being disrupted in the short term by AI commercialization and OpenAI new product expectations, while the 760 Call forms overhead pressure. Today's focus isn't chasing upside, but observing whether META can reclaim the pressure zone after OpenAI's launch.

AMD / INTC: Watch 750 and 130.
Both share the common trait of "the stock has already rallied, but Sell Calls are starting to appear overhead." For AMD, watch 750 as medium-term resistance; for INTC, watch 130 as short-term resistance. If the AI hardware trade heats up again, only a breakout above resistance would signal the seller structure starting to come under pressure.

CVX / XLE: Watch whether energy continues to strengthen.
CVX buying the 220 Call and XLE selling the 59 Put form a same-direction structure: one side betting on upside, the other treating 59 as a downside support zone. The energy sector's capital structure is clearly different from tech's "high-level capping."

KWEB: Watch 24.
The 113,000-contract 24 Call is today's largest directional buy order. The key is whether China internet can turn this large Call position into sector sustainability, rather than a one-day pulse.

④ What to Watch Pre-Market Today

AI / Semiconductors:
OpenAI Developer Conference → Watch whether AI Agent product launches reignite the AI trade. If there's no better-than-expected catalyst, AMD, INTC, ARM, and optical communications may continue their valuation digestion.

META:
Focus on 760 resistance, and whether the market reassesses Meta's AI commercialization expectations after OpenAI's launch.

QQQ / Large-Cap Tech:
Watch whether 736 can hold. Downside, watch the 720 Put protection zone; upside, watch 765 Call pressure.

Energy:
CVX 220 Call + XLE 59 Put present a bullish-leaning structure. Watch whether energy capital continues shifting from defense to trend-chasing.

KWEB:
The 113,000-contract 24 Call is today's largest directional block trade. Watch whether China internet sees capital expansion.

Rates:
10-year Treasury at 5.25% is today's biggest macro backdrop. If yields continue rising, the rebound space for high-valuation tech stocks will remain constrained.

One-Sentence Read

Today isn't simply "AI bullish or bearish" — it's that the AI trade is starting to diverge: capital is using QQQ Calls to bet on medium-term upside while buying Puts for defense. High-level AMD, META, and INTC are starting to see Call capping, while energy, banks, and KWEB are seeing new directional buying.
