Buying the Dip? I Am Buying Earnings, Not Red Candles.
The market has finally given investors something we have not had much of this year:
Better prices.
But a stock falling 10% does not automatically make it 10% more attractive.
My rule for this dip is simple:
Buy companies where the price has deteriorated faster than the business.
Right now, my shopping list is MU, NVDA, META, CRCL and QQQ, but at very different levels.
🥇 MU: MY HIGHEST-CONVICTION DIP BUY
Micron has been hit by the combination of memory-cycle fears, CXMT concerns and the broader technology selloff.
But the question is whether HBM demand and earnings power have deteriorated as quickly as the share price.
I do not think they have.
🚦 My levels
🟡 $860-$890: Starter position
🟢 $800-$840: Preferred Pick
🟢 $740-$790: Strong Pick
🔴 Below $740: Reassess the thesis
If MU reaches $800-$840 because markets are panicking while HBM demand remains strong, I want to be a buyer.
🥈 NVDA: BUY QUALITY WHEN THE MARKET DISCOUNTS IT
Nvidia is still my preferred way to own AI infrastructure because it controls one of the most valuable bottlenecks in the ecosystem.
But I would rather buy fear than momentum.
From the recent high:
🟡 5%-8% correction: First Pick
🟢 10%-12%: Preferred Pick
🟢 15%-18%: Strong Pick
🔴 Beyond 20%: Check whether AI capex itself has changed
🥉 META: THE CASH-GENERATING AI DIP
Meta is different from speculative AI.
It already has an enormous advertising machine capable of monetising AI improvements.
🟡 $680-$700: First Pick
🟢 $640-$670: Preferred Pick
🟢 $600-$630: Strong Pick
I would happily use earnings volatility to accumulate META if the advertising and AI monetisation thesis remains intact.
🔵 CRCL: MORE UPSIDE, MUCH MORE VOLATILITY
Circle is my higher-risk choice.
The stablecoin opportunity remains compelling, but CRCL is extremely sensitive to crypto sentiment, rates and risk appetite.
🟡 $80-$83: First Pick
🟢 $75-$78: Preferred Pick
🟢 $70-$74: Strong Pick
🔴 Below $70: Thesis check
I would size this much smaller than MU, NVDA or META.
🚦 AND QQQ?
QQQ around $719 is my insurance against being wrong about individual stocks.
🟡 $700-$715: First Pick
🟢 $675-$695: Preferred Pick
🟢 $640-$665: Strong Pick
I would rather buy QQQ at $680 than spend the next correction trying to identify the exact technology stock that bottoms first.
HOW I WOULD DEPLOY $10,000
I would not invest it all today.
$2,000 now
$3,000 if QQQ reaches $700-ish
$3,000 around $675-$695
$2,000 reserved for genuine panic
And within individual stocks, my conviction ranking is:
MU > NVDA > META > CRCL
The deeper the correction becomes, the more I shift from speculative names toward profitable leaders.
🔵 MY PREDICTION
I do not think this correction is finished cleanly yet.
My base case is another 1-3 weeks of volatility, with rallies interrupted by renewed selling as investors digest inflation, rates and earnings.
That is exactly why I am buying gradually.
I am not trying to predict the lowest tick.
I am trying to make sure that if the market gives me MU at $800-$840, META at $640-$670 or QQQ at $675-$695, I still have money available.
The best dip is not the stock that has fallen the most.
It is the company whose future cash flows have changed the least while its valuation has changed the most.
That is what I am shopping for.
I am not a financial advisor. Trade wisely, Comrades!
What are you buying on this dip? My first pick is MU.

- AlvinBell·10-20 09:12MU is the cleaner buy only if memory pricing holds up. If guidance cracks, HBM demand alone does not carry that capex cycle.2Report
