Micron’s Webinar Could Decide Whether the Memory Rebound Has Legs. I Am Watching HBM, Not the Headlines.

Memory stocks finally bounced. MU rose 2.97%, SanDisk 5.53% and SK Hynix 4.67% ahead of Micron's 21 October technology webinar.

But MU is already indicated around $883 pre-market, down roughly 2.4%.

So Wednesday's webinar arrives at an important moment.

The market is asking whether the recent memory selloff was an overreaction, or the beginning of a genuine repricing of the cycle.

My answer:

HBM still looks structurally strong. Conventional memory is where I would watch the risk.

🔵 WHAT WOULD ACTUALLY MOVE MU?

Micron is expected to discuss its multigenerational roadmap across DRAM, HBM and NAND, plus customer co-design and the memory requirements of next-generation AI infrastructure.

I would ignore generic statements about AI demand.

I want three things.

1. HBM roadmap

Anything reinforcing Micron's competitiveness beyond HBM4 matters enormously.

2. Customer co-design

The deeper Micron becomes embedded in future accelerator platforms, the harder it becomes to treat memory as interchangeable commodity supply.

3. Supply discipline

This may be the most important one.

The market needs reassurance that technological progress does not automatically become excessive capacity.

🔴 THE WEBINAR ALSO HAS A NEW RISK

There is now another variable I would not ignore: Micron's Taiwan labour dispute.

Strike action has been announced by the Taoyuan union beginning Thursday.

That does not automatically mean meaningful production disruption, but Taiwan is important enough to Micron's DRAM and HBM manufacturing that I would watch this closely.

Ironically, this means Wednesday could give us a bullish technology roadmap while Thursday introduces a fresh operational headline.

That could make MU unusually volatile.

🚦 MY MU LEVELS

With MU around the high-$800s:

🟡 $860-$890: FIRST PICK

We are effectively here.

🟢 $800-$840: PREFERRED PICK

This remains my favourite accumulation zone.

🟢 $740-$790: STRONG PICK

Only if HBM fundamentals remain intact.

🟡 $930-$950: FIRST RECOVERY

This is where I want to see sellers absorbed.

🟢 $990-$1,020: BULLISH CONFIRMATION

A reclaim would tell me the memory correction is probably transitioning back into an uptrend.

🟢 $1,080-$1,120: NEXT TARGET

🔴 Below $740: THESIS CHECK

🔵 MY POST-WEBINAR PREDICTION

🟡 50% BASE CASE: $850-$950

Micron presents a strong roadmap, but without enough genuinely new information to force immediate repricing.

I expect volatility, then consolidation.

🟢 30% BULL CASE: $950-$1,020

Strong HBM commentary, deeper customer co-design and confidence around future AI-memory demand force investors back into the trade.

A clean $950 break could move quickly.

🔴 20% BEAR CASE: $780-$850

The webinar disappoints expectations, conventional DRAM concerns intensify, or Taiwan labour headlines become more disruptive.

MU, SNDK OR SK HYNIX?

For me:

🥇 MU: best risk/reward after the correction

🥈 SK Hynix: strongest pure HBM leadership

🥉 SNDK: highest NAND leverage, but greater cyclicality

If Wednesday reinforces the idea that HBM demand remains structurally stronger than future commodity-memory supply pressure, MU is still the one I want to accumulate.

MY CALL

I remain cautiously bullish on MU at $860-$890, but I would keep ammunition for $800-$840.

My key number after the webinar is $950.

If MU can absorb the webinar, Taiwan labour concerns and broader market volatility, then reclaim $930-$950, I think the probability of another run toward $1,000+ rises substantially.

If it cannot hold $850, I would not panic.

I would watch $800-$840 very closely.

The webinar does not need to prove that memory prices rise forever.

It needs to prove something more important:

AI is turning the best memory products from interchangeable components into strategically co-designed infrastructure.

If Micron can convince the market of that, this correction may eventually look less like the end of the memory trade and more like its reset.

I am not a financial advisor. Trade wisely, Comrades!

My post-webinar base range: $850-$950. Do you think MU sees $1,000 or $800 first?
