2 Ways To Invest in Nasdaq 100 Index in Australia
๐๐๐2023 has been a huge year for $Invesco QQQ Trust(QQQ)$
as it is up 37% year to date due to the resurgence and growth in the Giant Tech Stocks.
What if I tell you that there are 2 less expensive options to invest in the Nasdaq 100 Index here in Australia? Introducing $Betashares Nasdaq 100(NDQ.AU)$ and the newly minted $Global X US 100 ETF(N100.AU)$ which just started trading this week.
Both ETFs track the Nasdaq 100 Index. Betashares NDQ ETF started trading in May 26, 2015 and is the only ETF trading in the ASX that tracks the Nasdaq 100 Index. That is until Global X introduce N100 ETF on August 21, 2023.
Let's compare the 2 ETFs. Expense ratio of NDQ is 0.48% while N100 is 0.24%.
Both pays Semi Annual Distributions. The current distribution yield of NDQ is 2.3%. Since N100 is so new, there is no distribution paid yet.
Performance wise NDQ is up 41% year todate.
NDQ's last traded at AUD 35.01 while N100 last closing price was AUD 9.90. Comparing that to QQQ last closing price was USD 364.02, both NDQ and N100 are easier on the pockets.
What's even better is that there is no W8- BEN form to fill up and it is all in Australian dollars. No necessity to convert to USD.
The Top 10 holdings of NDQ and N100 are the same and includes $Apple(AAPL)$
Amazon, Nvidia, Meta Platforms, Alphabet, Broadcom, Tesla and Pepsi. All members of the Magnificent 7 are there.
I like that both NDQ and N100 offer value for money and the wide diversification in 100 stocks of the Nasdaq 100 Index.
Nasdaq 100 has outperformed the S&P500 and the ASX200 over the past 5 years due to the exponential growth especially in the Technology sector. Mega trends like AI, Cloud Computing, EVs, Cybersecurity, Healthcare, Renewable Energy will continue to gain prominence in the future.
