Inside Temasek’s Treasure Chest: How Much Does Your Portfolio Overlap?
Temasek Holdings has released its latest data, showing a record net portfolio value of SGD 434 billion as of March 31, with a staggering SGD 45 billion increase in just the past year!
Temasek attributes this surge to two main factors:
Strong performance from its listed investments in Singapore; and
Robust returns from its direct investments in China, the U.S., and India.
From a short-term perspective, its 1-year total shareholder return reached 11.8%, a sharp rise compared to 1.6% in the previous fiscal year.
What’s inside Temasek’s “treasure chest”? Does your portfolio overlap with Temasek’s?
Local Singaporean giants like $DBS(D05.SI)$ , $SIA(C6L.SI)$ , and $Singtel(Z74.SI)$ make up 41% of Temasek’s portfolio.
Meanwhile, 36% of its assets are in global direct investments, targeting industry leaders aligned with key trends such as digitalization, sustainable living, future consumption, and longevity. That includes well-known names like $Sea Ltd(SE)$ (parent of Shopee) and global investing heavyweight $BlackRock(BLK)$ .
What do you think?
How closely does your portfolio match Temasek’s?
How much have local Singapore companies contributed to your returns?

My portfolio overlaps with Temasek’s in a few areas — I hold $DBS(D05.SI)$ and $Singtel(Z74.SI)$, which have been steady performers for me. While I haven’t added names like $Sea Ltd(SE)$ or $BlackRock(BLK)$ yet, Temasek’s strong exposure there makes me want to take a closer look.
Overall, my local stocks have been reliable, giving me decent returns and stability. Temasek’s conviction in these companies strengthens my confidence in sticking with quality Singapore investments while keeping an eye out for global opportunities.

I am so fortunate to have DBS as my top holding stock too as I believe in its solid fundamentals, excellent management team and nice, juicy dividends that it pays every 3 months.
As a Singaporean I am also very proud of how far DBS has progressed to have won so many accolades and awards over the years, the best being the Safest Bank in Asia for 16 consecutive years from 2009 to 2024 by Global Finance.

Besides OCBC and frenken, my other Singapore shares are SREITS. As we all know, SREITs have not been performing well since the rate hikes a few years back. However, I did have some returns from dividends. I am now waiting for further rate cuts and for SREITs to rebound. I also hope that frenken can ride the AI momentum and give me handsome returns. I think in 2 years, my SREITs will give me great returns. Otherwise, for last year and this year, my main returns have come from HK stocks and I expect for the rest of this year will also be HK stocks. It remains to be seen whether the returns from SREITs will catch up with that of HK stocks with the expected rate cuts this year and with the STI rising.

I'm proud to hold that under the Temasek umbrella. Singtel, Sembcorp and SIA.
