My mom was my first teacher when it came to saving and investing - even in stock markets. she is opportunistic investor as well as one to collext blue chips

My biggest stock teacher was a scammer.  But thanks to him, I now spot scams faster than a cat spots a laser pointer.  He taught me everything—mostly what not to do.  So technically… he did his job. Just backwards. 😎

They shape me one way or the other. I am so dying for investing knowledges. Now with social media. Teachers can be YouTube teachers. X teachers. Tigers & her AI. And so on. I owned it all you teachers. Without you. I cannot reach who I am.

On this Teacher’s Day, the first teacher who comes to mind is my secondary school Science teacher, who taught me the importance of curiosity and precision. In the world of investing, my favourite “stock teacher” would be Howard Marks—his memos are clear, disciplined, and deeply insightful. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to sharpen their understanding of risk and market psychology. Happy Teacher's Day to the people around me who believed in me, inspire me, encourage me. You are the reason why I grew to be the person I am today. Stronger, motivated, and discipline. I would like to thank the people who did not believe in me, and said that I would not make it because that certainly pushes me to be better and to prove to everyone that I am not the same person as the image you had in your head. And now, I became a Teacher myself for my full time job while I teach/inspire people on how to invest their money for the long term.

I am blessed with the fact that my first teacher, that is my mother, also has her Birthday on 5th Sep. And the lessons I learnt by observing her viz. focus, perseverance, complete faith and commitment in what we do and self-belief are invaluable in every area of my life. I have no hesitation to accept that it is following her approach that helped me succeed in the areas I succeeded in. The cause for any failures are entirely mine. I am totally grateful to God for Blessing me with the parents I have [Love]  

The market is the greatest teacher because there is nothing more effective than paying your school fees to it; attending "guru" courses, reading books, watching video comes nothing near to having a loss seared into one's head. [Serious]

Teaching comes with immense responsibility and requires so much passion, and I truly appreciate all the teachers who have touched my life and my children’s. Their dedication is truly admirable. I’m still in touch with my economics teacher thanks to Facebook :) I also hope to reconnect with my Chinese teacher, who never gave up on me. My chemistry teacher was also very inspiring but he has since passed on …. Treasure every teacher and be thankful for all the knowledge that we can learn it may not be useful now but will shape one’s thinking and determination

It will be my Pri6 Maths Teacher. Thanks to her patience, that overnight I excelled very well in Maths. From E.Maths to A.Maths. Anything that improves calculation, I will do very well. Maybe by having good Maths foundation, I tended to be very analytical/systematic when I m doing my work. In a way, it helps in my stocks purchase. The teacher who comes to mind is my mentor at work. She inspires me and provides me with much wisdom in my work. I don’t have a specific favour ‘stock teacher’ as different ‘masters’ have different strengths and have teach various topics with varying effectiveness. If I am interested in a specific topic, I will read or listen to YouTube videos on different ones to gain understanding from different perspectives. A note of thanks: to every mentor (human or book) who reminded me that patience often pays better than speed, and that protecting capital is the real test of skill. The market may hand out harsh grades, but thanks to good teachers, at least we’re better prepared for the exam.

Do teachers really need a dedicated day of recognition? They already enjoy good pay and long school holidays, while many essential workers—like cleaners, nurses, and dishwashers—receive none. Perhaps respect should be practiced daily, not saved for a special occasion. In today’s digital age, learning is no longer one-to-many; we learn from each other through sharing.

My economics teacher inspires me because he taught me the value of financial knowledge and critical thinking. I choose Warren Buffett, and yes, I would recommend him for his success with value investing and long-term strategy. Thank you, Warren Buffett, for your wisdom and inspiration in investing
