The tech world is buzzing with controversy as Apple and Alibaba's highly anticipated AI collaboration comes under scrutiny. What was once hailed as a strategic alliance to revolutionize artificial intelligence is now at the center of political and regulatory fire. The question on everyone’s mind: Will Alibaba be the one to pay the price? The Deal That Shook the Market Earlier this year, Apple and Alibaba announced an AI partnership aimed at integrating Alibaba's robust cloud infrastructure with Apple's cutting-edge machine learning capabilities. The deal was expected to create seamless experiences for consumers, pushing innovations in voice recognition, smart devices, and automated services to new heights. But not long after the ink dried, the global political climate took a sharp turn. US

The greater question surely is...can apple afford to delay AppleIntelligence into Chinese markets. With share shrinking and lagging deployment, what can apple do to maintain (perceived) position.

I find the recent scrutiny surrounding Apple's $Apple(AAPL)$  AI partnership with Alibaba $Alibaba(09988)$   quite concerning, especially given the potential impact on iPhone sales in China. The post highlights how U.S. White House and congressional officials have been reviewing this deal, as Apple plans to integrate its Apple Intelligence features with Alibaba's technology in China.  This collaboration is critical for Apple, considering China accounts for a significant portion of its revenue, and I worry that this scrutiny could delay the launch of these AI features. If the launch is hindered, I fear it might exacerbate th

I don't think this will have any bearing to APPLE-ALIBABA as Apple will only be applying to devices sold in China which western AI will be restricted either by China or US anyway.

Alibaba Slides on U.S. Scrutiny — Can Support at HK$120 Hold?

On May 19, 2025, Alibaba’s stock declined 4% following reports that the U.S. government is scrutinizing its collaboration with Apple. The partnership involves integrating Alibaba’s AI into iPhones distributed in China. This development raised U.S. concerns over data privacy and the broader implications of China’s growing influence in AI, leading to increased investor uncertainty over Alibaba’s exposure and regulatory risk. Technical Overview The current weekly chart shows that $BABA-W(09988)$ $Alibaba(BABA)$ price is now parked at a key support zone around HK$118–120. Tencent vs Alibaba: AI Firepower or Fool’s Gold?

Post-Earnings Dip or Discounted Launchpad? It’s earnings season in China, and two of the country’s biggest tech names just served up sharply contrasting dishes. Tencent’s results were robust—revenue up 13%, gross profit surging 20%, and a margin-rich business model continuing to hum. $BABA-W(09988)$, meanwhile, posted a revenue miss and promptly shed over 5% in market value. But here’s the twist: net profit at Alibaba skyrocketed 279% year-on-year. It’s a tale of two giants at an AI crossroads. So, is it time to back up the truck for Alibaba—or is $TENCENT(00700)$ the smarter bet? In my view, Alibaba’s drop presents a buying opportunity. Two giants diverge at China’s AI-lit innovation crossroads Tencent

I think this could be a good strategy to regain dominance on safari browsers to make it light weight like a safari bot..rather than losing to Google and perplexity..if they can make it good can even launch to windows laptops as well..But openAI is with Microsoft , but this is a strategic play from Microsoft, as they continues to dominate OpenAI, being invested in them..and developing their own AI as well for bing. But apple needs to do something different here. Not sure what's happening in that front..they just can't focus on Tarrifs and let lose everything.

Chinese companies $Alibaba(BABA)$, $Baidu(BIDU)$ and $TENCENT(00700)$ delivered impressive performance this year, outpacing the broader U.S. market. Looks like the Chinese tech titans are winning over the U.S. in the AI race. It is the competitive China’s internal internet sector that shape the Chinese tech giants’ ability to triumph in the global market. Tencent is presently leading over Alibaba. Tencent’s “pragmatic AI” strategy of enhancing existing revenue lines will outperform Alibaba’s heavy AI infrastructure bets in the next 2–3 years. In fact Tencent is poised for better long term growth with its heavy AI investment which creates better value for users a
