AI FEARS SHAKE WALL STREET

One report. One wave of uncertainty. And suddenly, the AI trade looks a lot more fragile. Thursday’s sell-off showed just how quickly sentiment can shift when doubts emerge about the companies driving the artificial intelligence boom. According to a Financial Times report, OpenAI’s annualized recurring revenue was reportedly $20 billion below previously indicated levels. OpenAI has not confirmed that figure, but the report was enough to trigger fresh concerns about its growth trajectory and competitive position. The market reaction was swift. The $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ plunged 1.25%, marking its worst session since mid-August. The $S&P 500(.SPX)$ fell 0.47%, while semiconductor stocks took an even bigger hi

Free Weekly Stock Market Commentary 10/9/26

$TVIX$ $UVIX$ $DECP$  By Lawrence G. McMillan Things seemed so promising on Tuesday, when $SPX traded at new all-time intraday and closing highs. But almost immediately after the market closed that day, selling set in. While it hasn't been heavy selling, it has pushed $SPX back down into the previous trading range. Essentially, the upside breakout wasn't a breakout at all, but merely a slight extension of the trading range. The net result is that there is still resistance at the all-time highs, 7820-7844. There is near-term support at 7720, then stronger support as shown by the red horizontal line in Figure 1, at 7580-7620. The market internals hav

10/8 Strategy Outlook | AI Faith Under Test

① What Happened Today Key Summary: OpenAI revenue expectation gap triggered a selloff in the AI supply chain, but AI demand has not been disproven. OpenAI revenue controversy hits AI trade: The market had previously expected its September annualized revenue to reach $70 billion, while the latest disclosed figure is about $50 billion. The difference mainly involves the statistical treatment of cloud partner revenue. The news triggered declines in AI-related stocks such as NVDA, ORCL, and AVGO, pressuring the semiconductor sector. The key is not just the numerical gap, but that the market is beginning to re-examine whether AI revenue can support massive compute investment. Capital begins to distinguish AI winners from losers: AI cloud services, optical communications, power, and financing-re

The stock remains 32.5% below its 52-week high of $259.92, reflecting an extended correction phase. However, the recent surge related to the Apple patent licensing renewal has stabilized sentiment, and the price is now consolidating near the $176 pivot zone as traders reassess the short-term momentum. 🚀 Key Drivers Apple Patent Renewal: The extension of Qualcomm's patent licensing agreement with Apple removed a major overhang, sparking a sharp rally in related chip names and renewing confidence in QCOM's licensing revenue stability. 📊 Market Recap As of the latest close on October 10, 2026, 'IREN' settled at $35.19, down -1.46% for the session. The stock remains under pressure, trading well below its 52-week high of $76.87 and roughly 8.1% below its recent resistance level of $41.82. The current price action reflects persistent selling interest, although the proximity to the 52-week low of $28.93 suggests downside may be limited if oversold conditions materialize. 🚀 Key Drivers AI Cloud Sentiment: On September 22, 'IREN' rose nearly 3% alongside other AI cloud service providers such as Nebius and CoreWeave, indicating that 'IREN' remains sensitive to positive momentum in the AI infrastructure build-out narrative. 📊 Market Recap As of the latest US Eastern session, 'AAOI' closed at $109.64, up +3.53% with an intraday amplitude of 8.06%. The stock remains roughly 53% below its 52-week high of $233.67, reflecting an ongoing recovery from depressed levels but still within a broader downtrend. 🚀 Key Drivers AI Infrastructure Momentum: Sustained demand for high-speed optical modules continues to support the stock, as hyperscaler capex on AI data centers remains a key narrative for 'AAOI'. Technical Rebound: After recent sell-offs, dip-buying and short-covering contributed to the +3.53% bounce, supported by improved risk appetite in semiconductor-adjacent names. 📊 Market Recap As of the latest U.S. Eastern close on 2026-10-10, 'WDC' settled at $397.28 with a modest gain of +1.01% ($3.97), continuing a fragile stabilization after a sharp drawdown from its 52-week high. Over the past three sessions, the stock climbed from $386.01 to a high of $398.28, but the closing price still sits roughly 50% below the 52-week peak of $799.87. The main technical signal now is not momentum acceleration, but a deeply oversold RSI attempting to build a bottom. Elevated storage and AI infrastructure demand expectations remain the core narrative support, yet the intermediate trend is still controlled by heavy supply above $480. 🚀 Key Drivers AI Infrastructure Spillover: Semiconductor and storage equipment sentiment continues to benefit from sustained AI capital expend

Cybersecurity Will Be Central to AI, Moving Forward I am always looking for new ideas to invest in, or to confirm that my ongoing investment thesis remains sound. While I don't follow day-to-day market noise, I do enjoy the high-stakes entertainment of tech news. One of the most emblematic moments in the ongoing AI saga unfolded recently. Reports emerged that an OpenAI model had gone rogue, escaped its sandbox, and breached Hugging Face servers. Shortly after, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, published an essay calling for the industry to slow down AI development. Jensen Huang of Nvidia took the opposing view, asserting that AI development must accelerate and that frontier labs should resolve engineering and safety challenges in-house rather than waiting for regulatory intervention, all whi

$NEBIUS(NBIS)$ Insiders Are Selling — But Is It Actually a Red Flag? Nebius dropped more than 5% Wednesday, putting insider selling back in the spotlight. At first glance, it’s easy to think: Insider sells at a huge valuation = warning sign. But the details matter. Nebius COO Ophir Nave sold 77,430 shares on October 5 at an average price around $232. The important detail? The sale was made under a 10b5-1 trading plan adopted back in May, rather than being an on-the-spot discretionary decision. The filing says the shares represented approximately 17% of his granted equity, and he retained more than 877,000 shares afterward. That’s very different from an executive suddenly dumping most of their position after a disappointing business update. And t

The AI Trade Is Spreading — The Next Winners May Not Make Chips

When investors think about AI, NVIDIA and other chipmakers usually come to mind first. But the latest market moves suggest the opportunity may be spreading further down the AI supply chain. While some chip stocks have faced selling pressure, several AI infrastructure companies have moved sharply higher. Lumentum gained 11.04%, Bloom Energy rose 9.63%, Nebius climbed 7.73%, and CoreWeave jumped 11.72% in the market update. These moves highlight an important question: Are investors starting to look beyond AI chips and focus on the infrastructure needed to make AI work at scale? 🔹 Lumentum — AI needs faster connections AI data centres require enormous amounts of data to move between processors and servers. Can Travel Demand Beat Rising Fuel Costs?

While investors debate AI valuations and technology stocks face pressure, I’m watching a different sector today: airlines. $Delta Air Lines(DAL)$  is worth watching as its latest earnings put travel demand, operating costs and profit expectations in focus. 🛫 What does Delta do? Delta is one of the largest US airlines, earning revenue from passenger travel, premium cabins, loyalty programmes and cargo services. Its premium travel business and loyalty ecosystem help differentiate it from competitors. 📊 Why is DAL interesting now? 1. Earnings provide a reality check Investors will be looking beyond headline revenue to passenger demand, unit revenue, profit margins and management’s outlook. The Selloff of the Singapore Banks Continues On Thursday. What Should Investors Do?

🌟🌟🌟The selling pressure on the Singapore Exchange has intensified for a second consecutive day, turning what started as a single broker downgrade into a broader macro rout.  Following Wednesday's initial hit, $DBS(D05.SI)$  $OCBC Bank(O39.SI)$  and $UOB(U11.SI)$  extended their declines on Thursday, dragging the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down by more than 2.5%. CEO Promise 2.0: Analysts are convinced

PLTR (Palantir Technologies) currently carries a Moderate Buy / Buy consensus from Wall Street, with average 12-month price targets clustered around $196–$222 (depending on the aggregator and recency of targets). Recent trading levels are near $194–$203 (as of early October 8, 2026 data), so the average target implies roughly flat to modest upside (or slight downside in some snapshots), while the high end of targets points to 15–30%+ potential. I am still bullish on the AI-driven memory cycle, especially with HBM demand remaining strong. Samsung’s huge profit growth shows how powerful the current pricing environment is, but the muted share-price reaction tells me investors are already looking beyond the next quarter. For me, the key question is how sustainable these margins are. I will watch DRAM/HBM pricing, new capacity and whether hyperscalers push harder on costs. In a cyclical industry, stocks can peak before earnings do. I am not calling the cycle over yet because AI infrastructure demand remains strong. However, I would stay selective rather than chase record earnings. If demand keeps outpacing supply, the cycle could last much longer. @Tiger_comments
