I think quantum computing could be the next ‘trump sector’. Trump is first and foremost a businessman. He will not make money losing business. He definitely has understood it well and think it is crucial to the US to have a stake in it for future economic returns and national security. Next to AI, this could well be the next engine to enhance performance of technology by leaps and bounds. He would want to enter in early to secure a good price before the sector matures and everyone has a stake in it. By having a huge stake in it, he could make it the governement’s workhorse without having to set up from scratch. As a conservative investor, I rarely bet early when profits are not in yet. I prefer to buy when there are some signs of turning profit or signs of increase profit making potentia

"The empires of the future are the empires of the mind." — Winston Churchill The Trump administration’s recent moves in the stock market—dubbed the “golden touch”—have garnered attention, with strategic equity stakes in semiconductors and rare earths yielding substantial returns. Intel’s stock surged nearly 80% after a $9 billion grant-to-equity deal, while MP Materials soared over 300% year-to-date following a $400 million Defence Department investment. Trump will not invest these companies without return. Quantum sector is still under research and development stage which is unlikely to give any good profit in the near view. However, if you have a further study on how quantum works or how quantum-related technology can bring us the benefits, you will understand why hr made such decisions. Quantum needs breakthrough and repeated breaking of speeds and puzzles, it can be used in various sectors including medicines, cures, new chemical or metal formation, light speed etc. I have invested in QBTS since last year. For long term invest, yes, you may explore. For short-term traders, you may need to wait for the opportunities.

If reports from $Alphabet(GOOG)$ are studied, they have developed new quantum algorithms and if they are investing so much, it is surely not hype. That said due to risks with the small companies, I would take small positions in stocks like $Rigetti Computing(RGTI)$ and $IONQ Inc.(IONQ)$ while allocating more to $Microsoft(MSFT)$ $Alphabet(GOOG)$ as they are more stable plays. This way one always hopes the small players become multibaggers while the big players have steady growth!

Quantum IS the way of the future! I think Ionq leads the race. It has an impressive executive team, has invested in partnerships that cover all aspects of development. It’s recent acquisition of Lightsynq strengthens its quantum networking roadmap. It’s data centre factory has been operating in Seattle for almost two years providing Ionq Forte and Tempo systems via cloud access to customer base. Quantum has potential in a myriad of applications - I think Ionq is a great bet for the not too distant future!

It is the shimmering edge of tomorrow's tech frontier.  With the Trump Administration reportedly injecting USD10 million into select US quantum firms, we maybe witnessing the birth of a new Trump sector. Will Quantum be the next big thing in 20 years?  Yes but not in a straight line.  It will be in quantum leaps.  The breakthroughs will be uneven, the hype cycles wild but the impact will be seismic! Think of it as the hottest trades in 2040 where today's conviction will become tomorrow's legacy. Trump’s Rare Earth Retaliation: Why $NB Is Poised to Explode in the Global Minerals Boom

In the heated geopolitical arena of October 16, 2025, President Donald Trump’s blistering response to China’s rare earth export restrictions has ignited a firestorm, vowing 100% tariffs and declaring the moves a “bad moment” for Beijing. As Trump blasts China’s “surprising” clampdown—expanding controls to five new elements like holmium and europium while imposing a “0.1% rule” on overseas products—U.S. officials like Bessent and Greer label it a “global supply chain power grab,” urging Beijing to back down or face equity stakes in American firms. This escalation, building on China’s April 2025 restrictions that slashed magnet exports 74% YoY, underscores a deepening U.S.-China decoupling that favors domestic critical minerals producers. Unleashing the Rare Earth Revolution: China’s Restrictions Ignite a Global Trade Boom

In the evolving global trade landscape of 2025, China’s stringent rare earth export controls have transformed from a geopolitical weapon into a catalyst for redefining international supply chains. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s Announcement No. 61, issued on October 9, expanded restrictions to five new elements—holmium, europium, thulium, ytterbium, and lutetium—while imposing additional scrutiny on semiconductor users. This move, though triggering a $2 trillion market value wipeout in the U.S. and a 1.3% drop in the S&P 500, has opened an unprecedented window of opportunity for the rest of the world. With China dominating 91% of global refined capacity and 63% of mined output, its “chokehold” strategy is inadvertently accelerating diversification across the entire rare earth value
